Chief Meredith entered the Navy in June 1, 1990 from San Antonio, Texas. He attended Boot Camp at RTC, San Diego, California. Upon graduation, he began training at Hospital Corpsman “A” School at the Naval School of Health Sciences in San Diego, California.

His first assignment was at Naval Hospital Charleston, South Carolina from December 30, 1990 to May 03, 1992 where he was advanced to Hospitalman. He served as a ward Hospital Corpsman for a Medical and Surgical Ward.

He attended Field Medical Service School from May 15, 1992 to August 16, 1992 and received follow on orders to 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California. He served as Senior Corpsman for Delta Battery, 2nd Battalion, 11th Marines from August 16, 1992 to June 12, 1995. During this tour he completed a WESTPAC with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) on the USS Rushmore with Battalion Landing Team (BLT) 2/9 from October 03, 1992 to April 15, 1992. BLT 2/9 was the first US forces in Somalia for Operation Restore Hope. He was on the 3rd Landing Craft into Somalia and was there from December 23, 1992 to February 25, 1992. He was promoted to Third and Second Class Petty Officer during his tour with 1st Marine Division.

During his next assignment, he served as the Training and Acute Care Petty Officer for Branch Medical Clinic, Naval Amphibious Base, San Diego, California from July 10, 1995 to May 27, 1998.

In May 28, 1998, he reported to 1st Field Service Support Group, Camp Pendleton, California. He worked as the Assistant Leading Petty Officer for 7th Motor Transport Battalion which retired its colors and was renamed 1st Landing Support Battalion where he became the Leading Petty Officer. He transferred on May 15, 2001 with his Parajumper Designator device. He advanced to Petty Officer First Class.

From April 4, 2001 to July 02, 2004 he trained reserve Marines at Inspector/Instructor Duty Green Bay, WI. He was selected as Senior Active Duty Sailor of the Year 2002 for MWSS 471.

He was then assigned to 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California from August 13, 2004 to June 10, 2008. His first assignment was Leading Petty Officer for 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines. They deployed with the 13th MEU on the USS Tarawa from July 16, 2005 to February 19, 2006. BLT 2/1 went into Iraq for 4 months cleared 5 cities during Operation Steel Curtain and Iron Fist. After BLT 2/1 returned he was reassigned as Senior Medical Department Representative for 3rd Battalion, 1st Marines where he redeployed with the 13th MUE on the USS Bonhomme Richard from April 10, 2007 to November 18, 2007. BLT 3/1 went into Iraq for Sustainment Operations in the Lake Tartar area of operations. Upon 3/1’s return he was reassigned as 11Marine Regiment, Senior Enlisted Leader. During his tour with 1st Marine Division he advanced to Chief Petty Officer and received his Fleet Marine Force Warfare Device.

His last active duty assignment was with Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton, California from July 11, 2008 to his retirement date of July 31, 2012. He performed in the following rolls; Senior Enlisted Leader for the Director Clinical Support Services, Senior Enlisted Leader 52 Area Branch Clinic, and Leading Chief Petty Office for Director of Branch Clinics.

Chief Meredith has earned the Fleet Marine Force device and Parajumper Device, his personal awards includes the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards) and the Navy, Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), Combat Action Ribbon (two awarded) and several other awards. He is married to Elaine and they have three children; Erin, Madelynn and Jack.
