| 14. General Summary of Function/Purpose of Position |

|This position will serve as the utilities and permits engineer for the Gordie Howe International Bridge (GHIB) project. The GHIB project includes the |

|construction of an international bridge, plaza, and connection to I-75 and is estimated to cost $4.4 billion. This project has statewide, national, and |

|international significance and requires coordination across Region, Division, Bureau, Department and Agency lines. This position works with other State of |

|Michigan employees, FHWA, City of Detroit, Windsor Detroit Building Authority, contractors, consultants, and the traveling public. |

|Perform utility coordination for the GHIB project. |

|Individual tasks related to the duty. |

|Facilitate information exchange between project designers and utility owners regarding relocation of utility facilities. |

|Assist in the review of design plans as required in the Project Agreement (PA). |

|Participate in utility coordination meetings to observe BNA’s process and progress for resolving utility conflicts with utilities to ensure delivery of design |

|requirements in accordance with MDOT policies, procedures, and requirements in Project Agreement (PA) and report back to supervisor. |

|Monitor timely submittal, review and issuance of permits for project related utility work. |

|Assist MDOT GHIB construction team with utility related issues during construction as needed. |

|This project consists of a Canadian Port of Entry, the main bridge, a US Port of Entry, and the Michigan Interchange. This position assists the supervisor in |

|providing oversight for the project’s utility coordination and permitting needs, along with assisting the project management team with various duties to ensure|

|compliance with state laws, standards, policies and requirements set forth in the Project Agreement as well as delivering the project within the appropriate |

|scope, budget, and schedule. |

| 26. What are the minimum education and experience qualifications needed to perform the essential functions of this position? |

|EDUCATION: |

|Possession of a bachelor of science degree in engineering. |

|EXPERIENCE: |

|9 level: No specific type or amount is required. |

|10 level: One year of professional engineering experience involved in transportation systems and programs equivalent to a Transportation Engineer 9. |

|P11 level: Two years of professional engineering experience involved in transportation systems and programs equivalent to a Transportation Engineer, including|

|one year equivalent to a Transportation Engineer 10. |

|KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: |

|Knowledge related to design and construction of highway roads and bridges. Ability to work in a team atmosphere and communicate effectively. Effective |

|organizational and basic computer knowledge is required. The ability to develop and maintain good work relationships with stakeholders and customers is |

|essential in this position. |

|CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: |

|Possession of a valid driver’s license. |
