President Obama referred to them as Junior Varsity. For those who do not live in the U.S., referring to ISIS as Junior Varsity is not complimentary.?According to Wikipedia, Junior Varsity (often called "JV") players are the members of a team who are not the main players in a competition. They are not the "main players," because they are not up to snuff... they just aren't quite good enough.?Two weeks ago, July 27, this particular Junior Varsity team vowed to start World War III. "This is the bitter truth, swallow it." ~ USA TODAY, July 28, 2015?Should we, those who do not believe that Allah holds any truth at all (other than what was stolen from the Bible), take this threat to start World War III seriously? Should we accept the fact??In 1996, Osama bin Laden declared war on the United States. The Clinton Presidency took no heed. Maybe they thought al Qaeda was a Junior Varsity group of some sort. Maybe President Jimmy Carter thought the ayatollahs in 1979 Iran were JV. If so, these so called U.S. leaders sure read the wrong signals. Like Obama has just read the wrong signals with Iran's nuke deal. That side of the aisle seems to read a lot of signals wrongly.?To answer the above question: Yes, we should take Islamic jihadism seriously. For whatever reason, Islam seems to have a higher-than-normal number of misinformed fanatics.?End of the world theology is not just a belief of the evangelical Christians. All three Abrahamic religions share a belief that the end of things as the world now knows them, will end abruptly. It basically goes like this:?Christian eschatology teaches that in the last days Jesus will return with His holy army in the clouds like He said would happen, for all the world to see.?"For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man." ~ Matthew 24:27 NIV?Christianity:?Jesus' purpose once again will be to save man from himself. At the time He returns, almost everyone will be dead from war, disease, famine, poisoned water, hail and lots of other tragedies. The preceding period is referred to as The Tribulation, or the time of Jacob's troubles. Israel (Jerusalem) will be under attack by not only the Muslim nations but nations all over the planet. This loose confederacy against Israel was foretold to be organized by someone the Bible refers to as the anti-Christ. He will be the opposite of Jesus, but few will know because of his great lying and manipulation skills. Even the most zealous adherents of Christianity will be fooled.?Jesus comes to rescue Israel once again. This time they will believe Him instead of having Him killed, though the Israelis hold out to the very end. They have always been a stubborn people. The Bible says the Israelis at this time of recognition will "mourn" because of what their ancestors had done.??On that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that attack Jerusalem.?"And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son. ~ Zechariah 12:9-10 NIV?Once Jesus defeats the anti-Christ and ends the war called the War of Armageddon, quite possibly WW III that will wipe out much of mankind, God's kingdom is established with a new Jerusalem that descends from the heavens. Even its dimensions are given in Revelation. There will be a great judgment where Jesus judges every man, woman and child who has ever been created. Those deemed worthy after judgment because of Christ's forgiveness will spend eternity with God. Those not deemed worthy will not spend eternity with God.?The great thing about this story is the ending. Those who make it will experience no more war, murders or tragedies. Man will stop eating animals, and animals will stop eating animals; just like it was in Genesis. No more sickness or injury and no more desire to sin against God. No more police coming to the door in the middle of the night to let you know your child was killed in an accident. The reason: Satan, the creator of sin, will be locked away.?Judaism:?Though Jews in general, and Israelis specifically, still do not consider Jesus as their predicted Messiah, no matter how much evidence there is to the contrary, there is a belief in an afterlife and an end of things.?The Messiah will finally appear and will defeat all the non-Jewish world (Zechariah 14:9-11). He will then restore the kingdom of Israel, and God will be recognized as the universal king.?Of course, Israel has been restored since 1948 after 2,700 years of non-existence; and they continue to wait for their Messiah.?Islam:?Like Christianity, Islam holds that Jesus did exist and was the Messiah sent for the Jews, who they rejected. Jesus will then claim that Islam is the only true religion. Forty years later Jesus dies and is buried in Medina beside Muhammad. According to Islam, Jesus never rose from the dead but has existed in some unknown state.?According to the Quran:?"It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces to the East and the West; but righteous is he who believeth in Allah and the Last Day and the angels and the Scripture and the prophets...? ~ Surah 2:177?The Last Day, a Day of God's Wrath is a common denominator in all three Abrahamic beliefs; and there are others. What leads to the wrath in each religion is different.?When Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was president of Iran, he made numerous references to the final war and the Twelfth Imam who would soon arrive (think Islamic Messiah). He, like many other in the Shia sect, was and is determined to usher in the end of the world. The Twelfth Imam does not show up until the final war has begun, so the motive to get on with it is seeded in the Iranian rulers' minds. They want it to happen.?Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, the chairman of Iran's powerful Expediency Council, warned in comments that the "outbreak of World War III" is coming in the near future, according to a report by Iran's Fars News Agency.?The Washington Free Beacon, August 5, 2015?Isis has declared war on all of the non-Muslim world. Their exit, after failing to break the Syrian rebels' grip on the town in weeks of fierce fighting, marked the Lebanese Hezbollah's first retreat from a major Syrian battleground, debkafile's military and intelligence sources report.?They were the first of the 8,000 Hezbollah troops fighting in Syria for three years to quit and return home to Lebanon. The withdrawal followed the instructions given by the visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammed Javad Zarif after he met Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut Tuesday and President Bashar Assad in Damascus the next day.??It was deemed unavoidable in the light of the Hezbollah army's failure to break through the defenses thrown up by the rebels barricaded in Zabadani, led by the radical Islamist Ahrar al-Sham. Even the elite Radwan Force, designed to conquer the Israeli Galilee, which Nasrallah deployed there two weeks ago made no headway.??According to our military sources, the Hizballah convoy is removing from Syria around 1,000 fighters, and masses of hardware including armored personnel carriers, various types of rockets, heavy artillery (in picture) and crates of ammo.??Extending the 48-hour ceasefire for Zabadani and two other Syrian villages up until Saturday, Aug. 15 - ostensibly for the evacuation of wounded rebels from Zabadani and the supply of food and water to the beleaguered town - was arranged to give Hizballah enough time to organize its withdrawal.?Hezbollah's combat performance on other Syrian warfronts, such as the Qalamoun Mountains on the Lebanese border and the southern town of Deraa, has not been too brilliant either. Most military experts give it a rating of medium minus.?Whether or not Iran's Lebanese proxy goes on to pull all its forces out of the Syrian war depends very much on the behind-the-scenes decisions reached by the US, Russia and Iran in their latest joint initiative for winding down the Syrian war.?Without going into explanations, Zarif gave it straight to Nasrallah and Assad: Just as you trusted Iran before, trust us this time too to look after your interests in the decisions the big powers are making for ending the Syrian war.?The Hezbollah leader has no choice but to obey his masters in Tehran. Assad has more options and his response is yet to come. In more than four years of fighting a full-scale war, the Syrian ruler has proved wily and durable enough to consistently turn military failings into political strengths.??US Secretary of State John Kerry gave the Iranian foreign minister's efforts a hearty vote of confidence when, on Aug. 11, he announced to reporters: "I just got a message today from my counterpart from Iran. He's in Beirut meeting with government officials there. You know where he was last weekend? He was in Kuwait and Qatar. He is reaching out to those countries. Are we going to turn our backs on the possibility that Rouhani and Zarif might in fact want to try a different approach?"?Kerry typically concealed more than he gave away:?1. Zarif's trips were not in pursuit of any "different approach" but a mission to seek out an agreed solution to the Syrian war.?2. He was entrusted this mission jointly by Washington and Moscow, which Kerry is shy to admit, because it would confirm the Obama administration's election of Iran to the rank of top regional power.?3.? He omitted to mention Zarif's long conversation with Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, which hardly attested to Tehran's "different approach."American Jewry's fateful hour - By Caroline B. Glick - Jewry is being tested today as never before. The future of the community is tied up in the results of the test.??If the Jews of America are able to mount a successful, forceful and sustained opposition to President Barack Obama's nuclear deal with Iran, which allows the world's largest state sponsor of terrorism to become a nuclear-armed state and provides it with $150 billion up front, then the community will survive politically to fight another day.??If the communal leadership and its members fail to fight, American Jews will find themselves communally disenfranchised.??On the face of it, there is no reason this fight should have been anything more than a hopeless - but relatively insignificant - ordeal. Given that all Obama needs to do to secure the implementation of his nuclear pact with the mullahs is secure the support of a one-third minority in one house of Congress, he might have been expected to go easy on his opponents since they have so little chance of defeating him.??Instead, Obama has decided to demolish them. He has presented them with two options - capitulate or be destroyed.??Consider Hillary Clinton's behavior.??On Tuesday the Democratic presidential front-runner and former secretary of state ratcheted up her statements of support for Obama's nuclear pact with the ayatollahs. Speaking to supporters in New Hampshire, Clinton said, "I'm hoping that the agreement is finally approved and I'm telling you if it's not, all bets are off."??On its face, Clinton's mounting support for the deal makes little sense. True, her principal rival for the Democratic nomination, socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, announced his support. But this deal will probably not be an issue by the time Democrats begin voting in their primaries.??On the other hand, the deal is not popular among either the general public or key Democratic donors. According to a poll taken this week by Monmouth University, only 27 percent of the general population and only 43 percent of Democrats want Congress to support the deal.??Then there is the funding issue.??Clinton hopes to raise $2.5 billion to fund her campaign. Her chance of securing that support - particularly from Jewish Democrats - is harmed, not helped by openly supporting the deal. So why is she speaking out in favor of it? The same day Clinton escalated her support for the deal, the FBI seized Clinton's private email server and her thumb drive amid reports that the inspector-general of the US intelligence community concluded that there were top secret communications on her email server.??Simply storing top secret communications, let alone disseminating them, is a felony offense.??Clinton submitted more than 32,000 emails from her server to the State Department. A random sample of 40 emails showed up four classified documents, two of which were top secret.??If the same ratios hold for the rest of the emails she submitted, then she may have illegally held some 3,200 classified documents, 1,600 of which were top secret. While Clinton is presenting the investigation as a simple security issue, she may very well find herself quickly under criminal investigation. At that point, her dwindling White House prospects will be the least of her worries.??But there is one person who can protect her.??If Obama wishes to close or expand a criminal probe of Clinton's suspected criminal activities, he can. As Roger Simon from wrote this week, "Hillary Clinton is in such deep legal trouble over her emails that she needs the backing of Obama to survive. He controls the attorney-general's office and therefore he controls Hillary (and her freedom) as long as he is president."??The prejudicial indictment of Sen. Robert Menendez - the most outspoken critic of Obama's deal with the ayatollahs in the Democratic Party - on dubious corruption charges in April shows that Obama isn't above using his control over the Justice Department to persecute political opponents.??Then there is Obama's treatment of Sen. Charles Schumer. Last Thursday night, the senior senator from New York and the next in line to lead the Democratic minority in the Senate informed Obama that he will oppose his nuclear deal. Schumer asked Obama to keep Schumer's position to himself in order to enable Schumer to announce it on Friday morning.?Rather than respect Schumer's wishes, the White House set its leftist attack dogs on Schumer.??By the time Schumer announced his plan to oppose the deal he had been called a traitor, a warmonger and an Israeli agent by leftist activist groups who pledged to withhold campaign contributions.??Schumer was compared to former Connecticut senator Joseph Lieberman. Lieberman was forced to face a primary challenge in his 2006 reelection bid. His opponent, Ned Lamont, was generously supported by leftist activists led by George Soros.??Lamont's campaign was laced with anti-Semitic overtones, and Lieberman lost. He was forced to run in the general election as an Independent and won by virtue of the support he received from Republican voters and donors.??White House press secretary Josh Earnest threatened that Schumer could expect to be challenged in his bid to replace outgoing Democratic Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid when Reid retires next year.??Responding to the onslaught against him, while maintaining his opposition to the deal, Schumer reportedly told his Democratic Senate colleagues that while he was opposing the deal, he would not lobby then to join him in opposition.??The White House led- and instigated-assault on Schumer is interesting because of what it tells us about how Obama is using anti-Semitism.??In all likelihood, Schumer would have demurred from lobbying his Senate colleagues from joining him in opposing the deal even if Obama hadn't fomented an openly bigoted campaign to discredit him as a Jew. The mere threat of denying him his long-sought goal of heading the Democratic Senate faction, not to mention the possibility of mounting a primary challenge against him, probably would have sufficed to convince him not to take any further steps to oppose the deal.??So what purpose is served by calling a senior Democratic senator with a perfect leftist record on domestic issues a traitor, a warmonger and an agent of Israel? In all likelihood, the decision to attack Schumer as a disloyal Jew does not owe to some uncontrollable anti-Semitic passion on Obama's part.??Even if Obama is in fact an anti-Jewish bigot, he is more than capable of concealing his prejudice.??After all, as we learned over the weekend from Iranian media reports translated by MEMRI, Obama told the Iranians four years ago that they could have the bomb.??According to MEMRI's findings, Iranian negotiators said that Obama sent then-Senate Foreign Affairs Committee chairman John Kerry to Oman in 2011, while Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was still Iran's president, to begin nuclear negotiations. During the course of those early contacts, Obama agreed that Iran could continue enriching uranium in breach of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a host of binding UN Security Council resolutions. He also agreed that Iran would not be required in the framework of a nuclear deal to reveal all of the possible military dimensions of its past nuclear work. In other words, he told the Iranians that he would not stand in their way to the bomb.??Obama managed to hide his concessions from the American people. He orchestrated a spectacle of "serious" negotiations with the P5+1 and Iran, where he pretended that the concessions he had made four years earlier were made at the very last moment of the nuclear talks in Vienna.??Given his obvious skill, it is clear that he would only play the anti-Semitism card if he believed he had something to gain from it.??So what is he planning to do that anti-Semitism can help him to accomplish? Over the past month, Obama has demonized and criminalized opponents of his nuclear deal.??Last week at American University Obama said that his Republican opponents are the moral equivalent of "Death to America"-chanting jihadists. Obama presented deal opponents in general as warmongers who would force the US into an unnecessary war that his deal would otherwise prevent.??And, since he said that among all the nations of the world, only Israel opposes the deal, it easily follows that the Jews who oppose the deal are traitors who care more about Israel than America.??And then this week his troops let it be known that Schumer is a warmonger and a traitor. And a Jew.??In his meeting with American Jewish leaders last Tuesday, Obama said that if the community dares to criticize him personally, it will weaken the American Jewish community and as a result, the strength of the US-Israel relationship.??If Jews - like Republicans - are warmongering traitors, obviously they should be made to pay a price.??By singling out and demonizing Jewish American opponents of the deal as corrupt, treacherous warmongers, Obama is setting the conditions for treating them as disloyal citizens can expected to be treated.??In other words, at best, Jewish opponents can expect to find themselves treated like other Obama opponents - such as Tea Party groups that were hounded and harassed by the IRS and other governmental organs.??AIPAC can expect to be subjected to humiliating, public and prejudicial probes. Jewish institutions and groups can expect to be picketed, vandalized and sued. Jewish activist can expect to be audited by the IRS.??In that meeting with American Jewish leaders, Obama seemed to present them with a choice. He reportedly told AIPAC's representatives, "If you guys would back down [from their opposition to the deal], I would back down from some of the things I'm doing."??Actually, he gave them no real options. Obama effectively told the leaders of the American Jewish community that as far as he is concerned, Jews have no right to advance their collective concerns as Jews. If they do, he will attack them. If they give up that right under duress, then he will leave them alone. So remain free and be hounded, or give up your rights and be left alone.??Some commentators have characterized the fight over the deal as a fight for the soul of the Democratic Party. This may be the case. But first and foremost, it is a fight over whether or not Jews in America have the same rights as all other Americans.??To be sure, Israel will be harmed greatly if Congress fails to vote down this deal. But Israel has other means of defending itself. If this deal goes through, the greatest loser will be American Jewry. ?This week on 'The Hal Lindsey Report' - Hal Lindsey - ?The coming alliance between Russia and Iran represents one of the pivotal points in Bible prophecy. We've seen them flirting with one another for years, but it is now becoming something more. ?Last week, the second most important man in Iran visited Russia. It wasn't the president, Hassan Rouhani. It was the leader of the notorious Quds Force, General Qassem Soleimani. ?First of all, why did Vladimir Putin want to see the terrorist-in-chief of the world's chief terrorist nation? Second, why would Putin break an international law that he signed-off on to see this man? ?The United Nations has sanctions in place to prohibit Soleimani from traveling outside Iran, yet Russia, who voted for the sanction in the UN Security Council, openly invited him to Moscow. ?Could there be a clue in the English translation of the name of that notorious organization, Quds Force. It translates to "Jerusalem Force." ?In the last few days, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power, has openly questioned why Soleimani was welcomed to Russia in violation of international sanctions. ?This will get interesting. The Bible very specifically names an alliance between Russia and a group of Muslim nations led by Persia, or modern Iran, as an aggressor against Israel. Now, Russia and the leader of a terrorist organization from Iran apparently dedicated to the destruction of Israel are getting chummy! ?Folks, this isn't just prophecy, these are today's headlines! ?From time to time, I've mentioned the growing, insidious movement among those on the Left, even mainline churches, to punish Israel for not committing national suicide by surrendering itself to the Palestinians. ?It's commonly referred to as BDS. That's Boycott, Divest, Sanction Israel. ?But the concept is not always easily identifiable. In fact, it is often cloaked in subtle nuance, but the effect is the same: cripple Israel to the point it is no longer able to survive as a nation. ?At the Republican candidates' first debate a few days ago, this diabolical scheme showed itself. And the gentleman who suggested it probably doesn't realize the implications of his proposal. ?Responding to a question from Bret Baier, one of the evening's moderators, Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, who favors eliminating all U.S. foreign aid, said, "Each one of my budgets has taken a meat axe to foreign aid...." ?When asked if that would harm Israel, Paul said, "...even Benjamin Netanyahu said that, ultimately, they will be stronger when they're independent." ?Baier followed up by asking: "But you still say that Israel could be one of the countries that is cut from financial aid?" ?Paul responded that "we cannot give away money we don't have." ?Never mind that all U.S. foreign aid to all the countries of the world combined only amounts to much less than 1% of our nation's budget. We'd be better off if he took his meat axe to entitlement programs which account for more than two-thirds of the U.S. budget. ?The point is that cutting off aid to Israel is a bad idea. Sometimes you have to spend money to save money. ?Buying (and using) a toothbrush may save money on dental bills. Buying oil changes will save money on later auto repair bills. ?U.S. aid to Israel, which is about half of what we give to Afghanistan, works the same way. Israel is the only stable democracy in the region. Of all the countries in the Middle East, only Israel's security needs coincide completely with those of the United States. ?Several countries in the Middle East, Iran foremost among them, have vowed to wipe Israel from the map. They don't attempt it for one simple reason: Israel's military strength. So continuing to help Israel stay militarily strong saves money and lives by deterring those attacks. ?A strong, stable Israel is far cheaper than a Middle Eastern war. One that we would have to spend billions of dollars and much blood to end. ?To those who wish to end U.S. assistance to Israel, I say simply: Let's not be penny wise and pound foolish. The Bible says it stronger. God says that He will bless those who bless and protect Israel. He will curse those who curse or abandon her. ?Finally, this week I want to debunk a notion that will be deadly to anyone who falls for it, even Christians. That's the idea that we can qualify for heaven by faithfully doing the things we are commanded to do and not doing the things the Bible prohibits. ?It simply will not work. Man cannot qualify himself by the works of his hands. I often struggle with hearing what God wants me to write about, and today was no different.? There was so much news in the headlines ... the "apocalyptic" explosion in China; the fragile world economy; the devastation to the Animas River by the EPA; the continuing horror that is Planned Parenthood; the threat of violence around the world; and on and on.?????? But, for some reason, my mind kept coming back to the question, "What do people believe about Heaven and Hell?? How do they define Good and Evil?"? I finally decided that perhaps God wants us to consider where we stand on these issues, and why.? So I'm just going to let my thoughts take me where He wants to go...?????? I would venture to say that most people have an easier time imagining that there is a heaven, than they do that hell exists.? That only seems natural, doesn't it?? After all, the idea of a positive, happy place is much more appealing than one of pain and torment.? But first one has to decide if they believe that there is something beyond this earthly existence; that our life, or existence, so to speak, doesn't stop when we take our last breath and are no longer present in this world.????? I did a little bit of surfing the web to see if I could get a picture of the different opinions expressed by a cross-section of people.? As you would imagine, those who have faith in God have no problem with accepting that life goes on after we have crossed the threshold of physical death.? On the opposite end of the spectrum are those who refuse to consider the possibility, either out of ignorance or arrogance. ?????? I found it interesting that there are people who have actually decided that life does exist after death, but are unable to attribute that notion to God; seeing that as too "religious" and "convenient".? Instead, they look upon our lives here on earth from a "cosmic" perspective; we are all energy that simply recycles itself in both spiritual and physical form.? For me, that seems like a "convenient" way to sidestep any real search for evidence of a Creator or Higher Being. ?????? Obviously, in order to accept the themes of heaven and hell, one must at least consider the Bible.? True, there were religions and cultures before the Bible was written that alluded to the same concepts, but to modern-day man, the terms are most often associated with faith in Jesus Christ -- which as it turns out, can be a huge stumbling block for many people (just as the Bible said He would be)!?????? Satan has done such a good job of projecting doubt on the veracity of Scripture that it is not difficult for people to simply cast Jesus as a man, a great teacher and prophet; or to deny the existence of evil as being just "negative energy".? When those limitations are put in place, then it is easy to dismiss that heaven and hell really exist.? You can see this confused logic in some of the following answers from a question posed on Ask Yahoo:? Does Heaven or Hell really exist???*? "Science has never attempted to define, classify, measure, qualify or quantify either Heaven or Hell. Each exist solely if you believe they do."??*? "Religion is nothing more than superstition with a collection basket. Why would an almighty God have to ask for money when Gods before him like Zeus and Apollo never asked for a dime?"??*? "I don't really think that there is a heaven or a hell. But I think that your consciousness never dies when you die. Your...spirit per se, is left behind while your body rots. And that energy is used to create new life. It is kind of like reincarnation, but it is more like recycling a mind and consciousness."??*? "There is no science to confirm or deny the existence of either. Nor is there any evidence for santa, easter bunny, zeus, odin, etc.? If you want to believe in these things fine, but realize that they are, indeed, fabrications of your mind."??*? "Physically? No. You don't pass through heaven when you go into space, and you don't fall into hell when you drill into the earth. On a mental plane or extra dimension somewhere, maybe."??*? "Most likely not, which is good, because it doesn't matter anyways."????? It is obvious from these answers that these people have been deluded into thinking that their existence in this world is all about them.? They've never looked beyond themselves to see if there is a greater purpose for the existence of mankind.? Notice that each answer is centered around the narrow confines of their own opinions.... they are in effect saying, "It's up to you if they exist or not; you have the power to decide."? However, there were one or two who answered from a deeper line of reasoning:??*? "There are non-fiction books by people who claim to have experienced one or the other (or both) that says they do exist, but I'm not too sure. Nothing yet really convinces me."??*? "It's a question that can only be answered by those who have died and gone to either place -- therefore we don't know. It's like that old myth I've heard that states if you die in your dream you die for real. Does that seem plausible??? If there was truly a God or Satan, wouldn't God have destroyed this world with so much evil in it? And if there was an all powerful Satan, the whole world would be inherently evil.? And if there is a kind, loving God, why do so many people say they're "God Fearing" -- if God loves us, why should we fear him??"?????? Now, these people represent the all-too-common trait of those who need proof of some sort.? They are searching for answers, but can't grasp the concept of faith.? And it is quite obvious that they are willing to read non-fiction books, but won't even consider cracking open the Bible.? Because, if they did, they would discover the eternal battle between God and Satan for the souls of men.? They would realize that God has given us an innate sense of right and wrong, and the free will to choose good over evil.? We are made in His image and He desires us to choose Him!? What purpose is there in our lives if God is a god that just allows evil to exist and then destroys it? ?????? Again, there is truly a "cosmic" sense to this battle, to use a popular term.? Because, surely these doubters do not deny that there are evil people in the world.? The murder and rape statistics, the sexual abuse of children, and the over 161,000,000 people killed in wars in the 20th and 21st centuries (so far) prove that bad things happen to good people.? Yet, there are literally millions of compassionate acts between individuals every minute of every day around the world -- therefore, proving that the world is not inherently evil. ?????? Surely they can see the supernatural battle that exists between the Spirit of a merciful God and the spiritual tactics of one who is God's "cosmic" adversary.? The evidence of both good and evil is undeniably and physically manifested before our eyes.? As for "fearing God", once again this shows a lack of Biblical understanding.? (And I find it ironic that those without faith in God and the truthfulness of the Bible would dare to try to define Biblical terms from a secular standard.? Doesn't that go against "scientific" guidelines)?? But I digress... as anyone who understands Faith with a capital "F" knows, the meaning of the word fear, in this case, points to a reverence or awe of our God.? This reverence comes from knowing that He is our Creator, He has determined the number of our days on this earth, and that He has the power to determine where we will spend the rest of the eternity He has made. ?????? Without personal knowledge of God and His Son, I doubt that you could ever convince anyone of the existence of heaven or hell.? They are the consequences of either belief or unbelief, just as our abilities to be either good or evil derive from belief or doubt in a Sovereign, Omniscient God.? It is not a matter of physical proof, but of complete trust, confidence, and spiritual intuition in One whose very breath indwells us. ????? We are all familiar with the comparison that inevitably surfaces at some point in this argument ...? if those who refute the existence of heaven and hell are correct -- and the screen just fades to black, so to speak, when we die -- then it won't really matter to either one of us.? But if I am correct, and we are all assigned to heaven or hell, then there is an eternal consequence for their refusal to acknowledge the existence of either. ?It is hard for me to leave the argument there; how do we impress upon people the eternal, everlasting, permanent consequences of them seeking an answer to this significant question? ?????? I may not be able to prove that heaven or hell exists; or what defines good and evil, but I know this... I am more than blood and tissue; more than biological matter.? This earthen vessel houses a spirit that longs to return to its original home.? And these few years that I occupy this space on earth are not all there is.... and that is great, glorious, and merciful Good News!?Romans 2:6-8?? Never, never, never, never-in nothing, great or small, large or petty-never give in, except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy." This quote will hopefully embolden you, encourage you, strengthen you as it did to Brits and their allies as they fought one of the gravest evils to darken the steps of mankind. We have a similar fight ahead.?We are repeatedly instructed by God's word to overcome evil with good. There is so much evil in our society and around the world. Much of what we read, see and hear seems to be surreal in that it is glorifying the evil and calling the good evil. My wife and I were watching a television program the other night and just the advertisements coming on the screen were so dark. They depict crime, murder, horror, death, destruction, sex, homosexuality, infidelity, rebellion, covetousness, and worse. We remarked to each other almost at the same time how dark prime time television has become. Much of these things are glorified through some sort of twisted sense of justice or even humor.?There is a moral war that is being conducted against that which is good. It has its roots in satan. But satan has no power unless people give him legal entry--which much of society has. We need to guard our hearts. We need to protect our families. We need to stand in the gap as examples and not yield to this 21st Century brand of morality. When these examples of evil come before us, we should point them out. Use them to educate others about discernment and right thinking. We need to be proactive with ourselves to ensure that satan's battlefield, our minds, are focused on the good thoughts of God. We need to be leaders for what is right and good in our families and with our friends.?We must be willing to stand. We must not give in. Psalm 94:16-17 says, "Who will rise up for me against the evildoers? or who will stand up for me against the workers of iniquity? Unless the Lord had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence." Let us be silent no more. Let us be louder than those who usurp the will of the people and are drunk on their own power. As Ephesians 6:12-13 says, "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." But every day, they would march around the city.?Why did God let them do that? I think one reason is that He was giving the inhabitants of Jericho an opportunity to repent. These people were wicked. They were into every kind of idolatry, perversion, and sin. God had patiently endured the evil of the Canaanites from the time of Abraham to Moses, a period of 400 years. They had plenty of opportunities to repent before Jericho fell. The Canaanites knew the Israelites were coming. Their reputation preceded them.?Another reason I think God told the Israelites to march around the city was so they would see what a formidable obstacle it was and that they couldn't handle it on their own.?As believers, we have our Jerichos in life, so to speak, problems that loom large and things that we can't handle on our own. And sometimes the Lord will have us march around them so we will see that we cannot rely on ourselves.?The greatest difficulty for many is to get to the place where they are willing to admit that the whole thing is simply too big for them, where they are willing to say, "I can't do this on my own."?Do you have a Jericho right now? Maybe it's an incurable illness. Maybe it's an unsolvable problem. Maybe it's a hopeless marriage. Maybe it's a prodigal child. As you think about it, you don't know how you will resolve this conflict.
