|General Instructions: Listen to the selected questions, 1)transcribe the questions into Chinese characters on a separate sheet of |

|paper, and 2)record your appropriate answers in Chinese. You will be graded based on your familiarity with the topics, levels of |

|accuracy in pronunciation and use of words, clarity, and correct use of the tones. Due by Wednesday, Jan. 24. |

|STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS: |

|Set up an individual conference with Mr. Yu to determine which questions you will be required to work on. |

|Log on to Chinese class website at . Make sure that your computer is equipped with a |

|sound card and speakers and is hooked up to a microphone. You can check out Mr. Yu’s plug-and-play USB microphone if you don’t have|

|one. |

|Go to your class section. Click on Assignments for 2nd Quarter on the right. When the list pops up, look for the FINAL on top of |

|the page. Click the link. When prompted, click “open the document”. |

|Once the document is loaded up, from the FILE menu choose “SAVE AS” command to save the document onto your flash drive or hard |

|disk. Save your document as “Last name First Name Final Q2” (e.g. smith joe final q2). |

|Right click on the speaker sign[pic] by the side of the first question you are supposed to work on to open up the Microsoft Sound |

|Recorder (available on Window 98, ME, and XP versions) interface. Click the play button to listen to the question. When you are |

|ready to record your answer, click the stop button at the end of the question. Then click on the red dot to record. |

|Click the red dot or the stop button to stop. You don’t need save. Just close the current sound |

|recorder interface and repeat the same procedure with the rest of the question. Remember that |

|each sound recorder can record up to 60 seconds in WAV format, so make your answers as |

|brief as possible. |

|When you are done with all the questions, save your document again. E-mail your document as |

|an attachment to Mr. Yu at Dingman.Yu@mpls.k12.mn.us. You can also save it on a CD or flash drive. No floppy disk please. |
