Non-profit organizations such as Goodwill and the Salvation Army usually accept used electronic equipment in working condition. However, it is always helpful to call ahead to ask if the organization accepts the device you are looking to donate. Many times, these non-profits are given equipment that cannot be resold or donated, which puts an extra financial burden on them when they are forced to pay for proper disposal or recycling. Older computers (more than 5-7 years old) are many times not accepted by these organizations.

Goodwill Industries of Kanawha Valley accepts electronic equipment and appliances in working condition at these locations. For more info, see:

Salvation Army: As with Goodwill locations, it is a good idea to call ahead before taking any equipment to these locations. Most household items, clothing, furniture, etc. are donated to Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers (ARCs) and sold in thrift stores to raise funds for the program. To donate, contact either an ARC or a local Salvation

Army unit. Generally, ARCs operate in a 50-mile radius of their location. For more
