Christmas Performances

Marching Band Parade Practice: Tuesday 11/27 & Thursday 11/29 in class- rehearse for Christmas parades! Have Sleigh Ride memorized!!!

Jacksonville Christmas Parade-Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012- MARCHING BAND

o Take home your instrument, uniform, equipment on Thursday afterschool. – Keep your uniform until after all parades.

▪ MS students, get your uniform after practice on Tuesday & just hold on to it for both parades

o Afterschool- 3:30pm: Bandroom Open to load volunteer trucks with drums & tuba

o You are responsible for your own transportation to & from the parade. We will not be taking a bus.

o 5:00pm- Meet & Line up in parking lot outside of Pelham Plaza (Save-a-lot, across from Winn Dixie)

▪ Horns & Drumline in Uniform , Auxillary & Drum Major in Windsuit, Managers- Blue Band shirt & Blue jeans (layer underneath!- Everyone wearing Santa Hats

o 6:30pm- Parade begins

o 7:30pm- Dismissed from Parade @ end of parade- JSU campus- Parking lot in front of Stephenson Hall

o The Bandroom maybe open briefly after the parade.

Weaver Christmas Parade: - Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012- MARCHING BAND

o Take home your instrument, uniform, equipment on Friday afterschool. – Keep your uniform until after all parades.

▪ MS students, get your uniform after practice on Tuesday & just hold on to it for both parades

o Afterschool- Friday: Bandroom Open to load volunteer trucks with drums & tuba

o You are responsible for your own transportation to & from the parade. We will not be taking a bus.

o 9:30am- Meet & Line up in parking lot of Weaver Elementary School

Oxford Christmas Parade: Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012- MARCHING BAND- See same times and information as Jacksonville Parade- Meet @ Wells Fargo Bank in Oxford (Across from Hardees)- Parade begins at 6pm.

Christmas Concert- Sunday, December 9, 2012- ALL BANDS!!!

o Bandroom Open 12:30pm

o 1:00pm- final set up in New gym

o 1:30pm- Jazz Band, 7-12 seated in gym- warm-up

o 1:45pm- 7-12 grade will move to side chairs, 6th grade seated in gym- warm-up

o 2:00pm: Concert begins-

• Please be respectful to another group performing, applaud when necessary, quiet when necessary

o After Concert( Please help clean up Gym & move equipment back to the Bandroom

o Attire: Everyone: Black Bottoms, 6th grade- White tops, 7th & 8th grade- red or green or black tops, 9-12- red, green, white or black tops

o Following the concert, there will be refreshments available for the band in the WPHS cafeteria. We need parents to bring finger foods for this band/ Christmas reception!

o Decorate the tree- We need each NEW band student to bring an ornament with their name on it. This will be used to decorate the Christmas Tree. New decorations will be added to last year’s decorations!

Choccolocco Christmas Tree Lighting- Tuesday 12/11

• Take your instrument & music home afterschool.

o We will use the marching percussion instruments for the concert music.

o We will not take the marimba or timpani.

o If you have a small percussion instrument in the jazz or concert music, you are responsible for bringing it to the performance.

o Drumset & keyboard players will be responsible for bringing that equipment.

o Auxiliary will need to bring your equipment like you did for the parade.

• 5:00pm- meet @ Choccolocco Post Office to setup & warm-up

o Attire: Blue Brigade Band Shirt & Black or Khaki pants, dress shoes. Dress warmly underneath t-shirt. Auxiliary- windsuits

• 5:30-6:00pm- perform

o We will perform the two 7-12 Christmas Concert songs, the 1 Jazz Band songs & the Marching Band “Sleigh Ride.” – in that order.

• 7pm- dismissed from performance

o The Bandroom may be open briefly after the performance.

• All Members of the Marching Band, Jazz Band, & 7-12 Band are required to be at this performance

White Christmas Programs-

Middle School- 6th grade, 7th grade & 8th grade- Monday, 12/17- during school- 1pm

o 12:53pm- Come to bandroom instead of homeroom after 5th period.

▪ final set up in gym- quickly as possible so we can warm-up & run through the music.

o 1:00pm: Program begins

o After Program( Move equipment back to the Bandroom

o Attire: Same as concert

High School- 9-12 Concert Band- Wednesday 12/12- during school- 2:15pm

Reminders:

* Concerts are a Grade, therefore Mandatory!

***Jazz Band will perform at the 12/7 & 12/18 - Basketball games- same procedures as previous game. ***
