Dr. David M. Scott is an assistant professor of criminal justice and public administration at the University of Texas at Tyler in Tyler, Texas. He has published topics on domestic violence, human trafficking, sexual assault, child abuse investigations, mental health issues in law enforcement, and strangulation investigations. Professionally, Dr. Scott has been a certified Texas Peace Officer since 1999 in which he spent the bulk of his career investigating and training officers and advocates in the areas of family violence, human trafficking, sexual assault, and child abuse investigations. He is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (FBI-LEEDA) and served as a trainer for new supervisors. He served on the board for the Women’s Center of East Texas (WCET) and the East Texas Child Advocacy Center in Gregg County, Texas. He is a legislative and public policy coordinator with the Texas Council on Family Violence and a trainer for the Texas Municipal Police Association in violence prevention awareness, training, program implementation, and program evaluations.
