SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assists the UVA Fund Director and the UVA Fund Associate Director by:Maintaining the general ledger for the UVA Fund’s foundation clientsReconciling gift revenue, pledge balances, investment balances, and other asset classes as neededPosting monthly journal entries for investment allocations, pledge adjustments, gift revenue adjustments, and other general journal entries as neededReconcile bank statements and cash accountsPrepare regular and ad hoc management reportsPrepares work papers and schedules for audits and tax filings Liaise with clients and third party vendors that provide services to our clients and to the FundSchedule meetings necessary to facilitate interactions with clients and business partnersMaintains client files and work papersProvide back-up help to UVA Fund and Alumni Association clients, as directedOther duties as assigned 15%EDUCATION: Associate’s degree in accounting or business management required.Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business management preferred.EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years’ experience in a similar position and not-for-profit industry experience preferred.SKILLS/CERTIFICATIONS:Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite required, especially ExcelBasic knowledge of accounting concepts and double-entry booking requiredBasic knowledge of accounting software systems requiredGeneral knowledge of GAAP and tax law preferred, but not required.Knowledge of non-profit accounting and business models preferred but not required.Writing and verbal communication skills.Time management and organizational skills.
