UR Fixtures are ADA Accessible
In July of 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was signed into law. This law established guidelines for accessibility to public and commercial facilities by individuals with disabilities. With Passage of this act, it became essential for plumbing designs to include products that are compatible with the ADA. Universal Rundle provides a complete assortment of vitreous china fixtures and fiberglass showers and tubs that meet these requirements.
Key ADA Requirements for Selected Vitreous China Fixtures:
Water Closets:
The height of water closets shall be 17” to 19” measured from the floor to the top of the toilet seat.
Lavatories:
Lavatories shall be mounted with the rim or counter surface no higher than 34” above the finished floor and provide a clearance of at least 29” to the bottom of the apron. Knee and toe clearances shall comply with the illustration.
Urinals:
Urinals shall be wall hung with an elongated rim at a maximum of 17” above the finish floor.
Gerber Lands Award!
Yaun Company has had a long enjoyable relationship with the Gerber Plumbing Fixtures Corporation and we are very proud to pass on some exciting information. For anyone who has not heard, Gerber has been awarded the 1996 Top Brass Award as Manufacturer of the Year by the American Supply Association. There is strong competition for this award and Gerber can be very proud.
Call Yaun Company for these top quality faucets!
Delta Price Catalog
Some inaccuracies have been discovered in the 1997 Delta full line price list. Due to cost, there are currently no plans to reprint the price list. However, listed below here are corrections to the errors that have been identified. Delta apologizes for any inconvenience the inaccuracies may have caused.
• Page 18: Third row, 2147-LHP series illustration – this faucet does not have a vegetable spray.
• Page 23: Second row 522 series description only – the illustration is correct – this series has a clear knob handle, not a lever handle.
• Page 25: Last row, the metal cross-handle kit that looks best with the 4-inch centerset faucets is H26, not H46. The H number under the illustration needs to be corrected as well as the H number and list prices in the grid under the illustration. The H26 list prices are:
H26 - $49.00 H26CB - $53.00 H26PB - $72.20
H26AC - $55.80 HC26AP - $59.80 HC26 WC -$55.80
H26WP $59.80
• Page 29: Last row, the metal-cross handle kit that looks best with the widespread lav faucets is H26, not H46. See above list prices
• Page 35: Last row, the metal-cross handle kit that looks best with the bidet faucets is H26, not H46. The illustration is marked correctly, but the grid is not. See above list prices.
• Page 43 and 45: Last row, the clear Innovations® handle accent illustration shouldn’t show threads, as the spindle on the tub/shower handle must go through the accent to provide extra support. The A73CL is hollow, not threaded.
• Page 48: Last row, lever handle accents, disregard the red note about A12 and A14 accents.
• Page 81: Second row, the note about the RP26880AL and RP26880WH vegetable spray head less hose is incorrect. The matching RP6015 spray supports are listed on page 90, not page 88.
• Page 104: RP21468 should state, “See RP25057” and RP21468PB should state, “See RP25057PB”.

Nordyne Technical Notice About Blower Motor Cycling Due to Cold Return Air Temperature
Nordyne now has a fan switch for M-series furnaces that prevents main blower cycling due to cold return air temperatures. The part number for this kit is #902994. Nordyne does not consider this to be a warranty issue as many things outside the manufacturer's control contribute to short cycling of the blower:
1. Very cold outside air temperatures being drawn in through the ventilaire system.
2. Setting back the thermostat set point at night to a very low temperature.
3. Leaving the system off for extended periods of time.
If you have any questions or require further assistance, please contact the technical service department at Nordyne, 1-800-4AC-HEAT.
High Temperature Plastic Vent Pipe (HTPV), also called Special Venting Systems (S.V.S.) Used for Venting Ruud Mid-Efficiency Gas Furnaces,
UGDG, UGVG, UGPH, UGLH,
UGVH, UGDJ, UGLJ & UGVJ
Ruud previously advised that any horizontal high temperature plastic venting system (HTPV) made from “LTEM” resin (Plexco’s Plexvent® and Hart & Cooley’s Ultravent ®) should NOT be used in new installations with Ruud’s mid-efficiency furnaces. Ruud strongly advises that any existing installations with any HTPV should be inspected at least annually and any problems found should be reported to the HTPV manufacturer immediately.
Ruud has advised that Selkirk’s Selvent™ II HTPV product, made with the new Amoco Radel® resin and using special epoxy sealant, could be used for horizontal venting of specified furnace models contingent upon precise adherence to Selkirk’s Installation Instructions and inspections at least annually.
Additionally, Ruud has announced another venting option, the use of a sidewall Power Venter kit, the GPAK-1TR, supplied by Tjernlund Products, Inc. ®, with B-Vent (when installed per the manufacturer’s instructions) as an alternate method of horizontal venting for specified mid-efficiency furnaces.
Although Ruud still does not have definite technical evidence that Selkirk’s Selvent™ II, if installed correctly and inspected annually, is not an effective pipe system for horizontal venting of Category III furnaces, many questions continue to arise concerning the use of any type of HTPV product. Additionally, improper installations can occur and mandatory inspections may not take place. End users may be at risk. Therefore, IT IS RUUD’S POSITION NOW THAT NEW INSTALLATIONS OF ANY HTPV PIPE USED IN A CATEGORY III VENT APPLICATION, INCLUDING SELKIRK’S SELVENT™ II HTPV PRODUCT, SHOULD CEASE IMMEDIATELY.
RUUD WEB SITE
The Internet is a dynamic, quickly evolving communications tool serving the ever-changing needs of customers in all aspects of business. Ruud Air Conditioning Division is pleased to announce the launching of their World Wide Web site at . The site was recently demonstrated at the 1997 ASHRAE Show in Philadelphia and attracted significant interest.
The Ruud web site was designed and constructed to be an attractive, interactive electronic brochure with graphically supported categories for Ruud domestic and internationals product lines, Ruud history and facilities, news releases, Division developments, and new product information. The web site design also allows Ruud to communicate effectively to all potential customers – from a consumer learning more about air conditioning, to a specifying engineer or HVAC dealer who may wish to learn more about the Ruud product line.
Mitsubishi Highest 12.8 Seer
Ductless A/C
In case you haven’t heard, Yaun Company now has in stock Mitsubishi Ductless mini split air conditioners. These units offer very high seer ratings. The SRK09 is 12.8, the SRK12 is 11.1, the FDK18 is 11.7, and the FDK24 is 10.5 seer. To give you an example of how cost efficient these units are the indoor blower runs all the time the unit is in the “on” position. This is for three reasons; the first is the temperature sensor is mounted in the return air to sense a true temperature, not a false reading from a hand held controller laying on the coffee table or TV. The second is running the fan all the time keeps the air moving throughout the room resulting in less chance of stratification. The third is the cost for electric to run the fan. The motor uses only 11 watts of electric. It would cost approximately 60 cents per month if you are paying 15 cents per kW.
Give us a call to find out how much lower these high efficient units cost compared to the higher priced low efficiency brands.

Buchanan Announces New Cable Tie Tool
Hooray! A tool that can cut costs and reduce labor! Too good to be true? Buchanan Construction Products introduced a new cable-tie tool that can do both – the “Tie-Gun” tool.
With the “Tie-Gun” tool, you can tie cable effectively with cable ties that are made-to-measure for each application. This tool features a continuous reel of belt that enables you to use the right length of cable tie for every job with no waste. Also eliminated is the time lost cleaning up after the job since there is no waste.
Here’s how the “Tie-Gun” works:
Yaun Company is stocking the TG-4521B “Tie-Gun” tool. Each tool comes with 65 feet of belt (black) and 200 clips (black). We also have the separate belt pack (65 ft., # TGR65B) and clip packs (200/pk, #TGC200B). Available by special order are belt packs and clips in white as well as longer belt packs (328 ft. and 984 ft. lengths) for larger jobs.
The “Tie Gun” tool can reduce your inventory. No longer do you have to stock various lengths of cable ties since every installation is cut-to-length, as needed.
Give your salesman or the Electric Department a call for more information on the new “Tie-Gun” tool from Buchanan, you will be happy that you did!

GFCI Leviton Cordsets in Stock
The recent edition of the National Electrical Code (NEC) requires the use of a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) when using portable power (extension cords, tools, portable lights and equipment). Those contractors affected by this code are those who work in repair, remodeling, demolition and new construction jobs. This requirement will save lives by preventing on the job “electrocutions.”
Leviton Mfg. has a line of GFCI devices including those devices on cordsets. Yaun Company is stocking two of these cordsets. Both are rated at 15a, 125v, since most handtools are rated the same way. The #665912C is a single GFCI receptacle on a 2-foot cord and the #665933 is a triple GFCI receptacle on a 3-foot cord.
Contact your local Yaun Company salesman for more information on GFCI cordsets. By doing so, you may prevent serious injury and/or death from electrical shock while “on the job.”
BOILER BLOW OFF…
From time to time I heard complaints from contractors who express frustration when a boiler blows off the relief valve and the controls check out as OK. You may want to check and see if there is heat transfer paste in the well of the aquastat. It seems that many boiler manufacturers have stopped including this paste at the factory. Since air acts as an insulator around the probe, there can be a delay in sensing the boiler water temperature, this causing the boiler relief valve to discharge hot water.
Remember that Yaun Company stocks the paste you need!
MITSUBISHI BREAKFASTS
Yaun Company introduced its new line, Mitsubishi Ductless Air Conditioning, at dealer breakfasts in Liberty and Newburgh in May.
Rick Yaun opened the meetings with an overview of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Climate Controls, Inc.
Jeff Trower from Mitsubishi led the presentation and provided important technical information.
Mitsubishi products are of high quality and offer higher Seer ratings. Contact your Yaun sales representative for more information.
Remember Yaun Company
for A/C Accessories
As the air conditioning season comes upon us, remember that Yaun Company stocks accessory items for installations of the Ruud, Miller, EMI and Mitsubishi A/C equipment lines.
As a Square D stocking dealer, we have the Q0200TR, a 60a. switch type NEMA 3R disconnect in a metal enclosure. In 1996 sold over 700 of these. Contractor’s appreciate the Square D quality of these disconnects.
In conjunction with the Q0200TR, we also stock pre-made A/C whips. These whips come in ½” (#10 wire) and ¾” (#8 wire) sizes, with a piece of non metallic liquidtite and two connectors. For those who prefer to make their own whips, we stock the Carlon “Carflex” non metallic liquidtite as well as metal or PVC connectors.
Make Yaun Company your one-stop shop for air conditioning jobs. Order you’re A/C accessories at the same time you order your equipment
