Announcements
N.C. Veteran’s Home of Kinston - Worship
Today The Rev. Keith Gardner, Pastor of First Church, Greenville will be leading worship at the N. C. Veteran’s Home of Kinston. The service will begin at 2:30pm and last about thirty minutes. A few people are needed to assist the veterans to the worship center. Thank you for your help!
New Bible Study – The Twelve Disciples
Beginning Wednesday, October 1, the Pastor will begin a new Bible study on “The Twelve Disciples.” After Jesus’ baptism in the Jordan River, He retreated to the desert. There He fasted and prayed in preparation for His public ministry that lay ahead. As far as we know, the first act of His ministry was to call to His service four fishermen. These four – Simon Peter, Andrew, James and John left their fishing boats in answer to His call. Soon after, other disciples joined Jesus and He called the twelve to travel with Him from place to place as He went about His work of proclaiming the Kingdom of God. Later Jesus would send them forth as His apostles to “preach the gospel to every creature.” Come learn from the example of these disciples of Jesus.
University of Mount Olive Lenoir County Dinner
The 2014 Lenoir County Dinner for the University of Mount Olive will be held on Saturday, October 4th at 6:00pm, La Grange First Church. Cleo Hinson of our church family is serving as County Chairperson. Virginia Holmes will serve as our local church chairperson. Our Dinner goal is $7,500.00. Please be prayerful as we work together to meet this goal. Last year we had 31 Bridge Builders from our church. If you would like to be a “Bridge Builder,” the categories are as Follows: College Club $ 100 to $ 249
Heritage Club $ 250 to $ 499
Presidents Club $ 500 to $ 999
Trustees Club $ 1,000 to $ 1,999
Founders Club $ 2,000 to $ 2,499
Golden Club $ 2,500 and above
Please turn your gift in to Virginia Holmes by Wednesday, October 1. Remember to sign the list TODAY if you plan to attend the dinner.
Operation Christmas Child
On Sunday, October 12th @ 6:00pm we will have a “Serve Campaign Night” with our focus on the ministry of “Operation Christmas Child.” This year we are encouraging everyone to fill a shoe box for a child. In addition to our normal boxes by individuals, as a church family this program on October 12th will include a video about Operation Christmas Child, worship time, and service time. In preparation for this night, we are asking you to take an ornament off the Christmas Tree in the Gathering Hall. On the ornament will be listed an item(s) that are needed to fill the shoe boxes for the children. You simply take an ornament and bring that item(s) on October 12th for the shoe boxes. Our goal for this evening will be 30 boxes. Don’t miss the Blessing!
Praise Fest 2014
Praise Fest will be October 18th from 4:00pm-8:00pm hosted by La Grange Christian Church. Our Sunday Night Live Band will be playing first at 4:00pm. WE NEED some help! First… we need some middle school and high school students who would be willing to help out staffing a blow up (bounce castle, things like that). Also, we would love to set up a church stand in the same way we did for the Garden Spot Festival. We need groups of 2 to staff this for each hour (4-5, 5-6, 6-7, & 7-8). Let Josh know if you can help out. The event is meant to raise funds for the Refuge in Kinston, The Refuge is the organization that sponsors Erasing The Lines. Many of our students participate in this camp. If you know of any of these students who would like to share a testimony in between bands, please let us know! Someone from the Refuge will give a devotion at some point during the evening. Thanks for all your help! Let’s not miss this community outreach event!
Finance Committee
The Finance Committee of the church will be meeting soon to prepare the 2015 budget for the church. We try to have the new budget prepared by the October Church Conference meeting. If you have any recommendations you can turn them in to the pastor or a member of the committee (Bruce Bannister, Clifton Harrison, Lucille Harrison, Janet Hines, Virginia Holmes, and Donald Parrish).
Journey to Bethlehem / Dinner Theater
Our annual “Journey to Bethlehem/Dinner Theater” will be Sunday, December 14th and Monday, December 15th @ 7:00pm. Make your reservations by contacting Tiffany Creech @ 252-286-5311.
A Night with David Ring

RESPONSIVE READING My Redeemer
And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stat here in fear.
Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers,
But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.
Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification and redemption.
Glory in the Lord. 1 Pet. 1:17-19, Is. 53:4-5, 1 Cor. 1:30, 31b
