Mr Breakfast Celebrates His 1,111th Breakfast Recipe By Donating 1,111 Bananas To Food On Foot
Hollywood, Calif., July 26, 2004 -- 1,111? Why didn’t “the Guru of Early Morning Guzzling” (as described by NBC Radio) celebrate the 1,000th recipe submission? According to Eddy Chavey - the real-life face behind the breakfast character, “Unfortunately the 1,000th recipe was submitted right before Valentine’s Day and I was moody because I didn’t have a girlfriend.”
The 1,111th recipe was for Lingonberry Pancakes. The submitter was site member “pancakegrrrl” of Madison, Wisconsin.
Yesterday, Mr. Breakfast celebrated the occasion by presenting 1,111 bananas to Food On Foot, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing meals to Hollywood’s poor and homeless. “Bananas are nature’s perfect food,” said Breakfast/Chavey, “I wish I could give all these guys deluxe omelets. This is the next best thing.”
The 1,111 milestone represents the culmination of a six-year struggle to make the definitive voice of breakfast on the Internet. Since early 2004, the site has consistently held the position of the world’s number one breakfast web site according to web ranking service Alexa (an company).
In 2003, the website was recognized as ’s Pick of the Day.
