DN - DISPOSITION OF SURPLUS PROPERTYPurpose:From time to time, Clinton Public Schools may find it necessary to dispose of materials, residual supplies, old/excess furniture and surplus equipment. The following procedure outlines the steps to be followed when disposing of such items with a resale of salvage value of less than $10,000.Administration:This policy shall be implemented through the Office of the Superintendent or his/her designee.Definition:Surplus items covered under this policy shall be defined as items no longer useful to the District, as well as, having a resale or salvage value of less than $10,000. Surplus items shall include furniture, books, motor vehicles, technology equipment, and other materials and supplies. Surplus items covered under this policy shall not include real property.Policy:Furniture, books, motor vehicles, technology equipment, and other materials and supplies (excluding real property) shall be declared surplus by the Building Principal or Administrator. The Building Principal and/or Administrator shall make a written recommendation to the Superintendent to declare certain items as surplus. The written recommendation shall include a detailed listing of the items being recommended for disposal. The Superintendent or his/her designee shall act upon the request of the Building Principal and/or Administrator.Procedure:The Superintendent shall present a list of items to be declared as surplus to the School Committee. Having been so declared and approved for disposal by the School Committee, the Superintendent shall follow the procedures established by the Town of Clinton for the disposal of surplus items.First Reading:April 8, 20192nd Reading and Adoption: April 22, 2019 ................
