This week’s question is ‘What makes some toys more popular than others’ There are resources looking at a variety of toys, old and new, as well as reflection activities for the children and a toy design activity If they finish this and want to do some more, they can read for pleasure.English writing (45 Minutes)To learn about VE day and complete a writing task for it.Friday marks the 75th anniversary of VE day and as there won’t be any home learning on Friday, we will be looking at it today. There is a PowerPoint that goes through what VE day is, it is significance to adults and children, a brief look at evacuees and VE day 2020. There are three writing tasks for the children to choose from. It is up to them which one they do choose. There is a poem by a 12-year-old evacuee that goes with this lesson and will be posted as well. Maths (45 Minutes)To continue learning about division through grouping Starter – do a daily 10 activity online - It can also be found by googling daily 10. The children will need to choose level 2 – Today they should try a subtraction activity!Today’s learning will be looking at dividing through grouping, rather than sharing. When we group, we primarily display numbers as arrays, and I will post a video reminding child of the differences between grouping and sharing. The video will be on Class Dojo. Both methods ultimately lead to the same answer, and both are division, it just gives the children multiple ways of solving questions and using the method they feel most comfortable withArt (30-45 Mins)Create VE day buntingI have posted templates, instructions, and a guide on how to create VE day bunting. The children can use the template or create their own bunting if you have paper at home. The bunting should be creative and be themed around the UK and VE day.
