Utah Veteran First-time Homebuyer Grant

Steps to reserve and obtain the $2,500 Veteran Grant: Allow approximately three business days for Utah Housing Corporation to review and issue or decline the Veteran Grant Reservation

Do not send this request to Utah Housing without ALL required documents as outlined below. Closing documents must be dated on or after the issue date of the Veteran Grant Reservation. Grant reservations will be issued on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Failure to provide ALL the required documents will result in disqualification.

Veteran Grant Reservation Request Checklist

Veteran Obtaining a Veteran Grant Status Validation: 1. Veteran contacts the Utah Department of Veterans and Military Affairs (UDVMA) to obtain a Utah Veteran Grant Status Validation (UVGSV), which includes a validation number. Information to obtainthe UVGSV can be found on veterans.

2. Veteran provides a copy of UVGSV to the Lender.

Lender Reserving the Veteran Grant funds:

3. Lender's originating loan officer pre-qualifies the Veteran for a first mortgage loan, from a Utah Licensed Lender, and verifies the Veteran is a first-time homebuyer (has not owned a home in Utah for the past seven years).

4. Lender requests a reservation for the Veteran Grant by sending the following documents to Utah Housing through secure e-mail to GrantPrograms@ a. Veteran obtains from UDVMA: Utah Veteran Grant Status Validation b. Lender completes and signs: Veteran Grant Reservation Request (UHC Form 222) c. Veteran completes and signs: Veteran Grant Application Disclosure (UHC Form 221)

Utah Housing Funding the Veteran Grant: 5. Utah Housing will issue a Veteran Grant Reservation Agreement after reviewing and approving therequired documents.

Failure to provide the required documents (refer to #4) will result in disqualification from the program.

The Reservation Agreement will expire 120 days from the date of issuance. 6. Utah Housing will provide to the Lender:

a. Utah First-time Homebuyer Veteran Grant Reservation Checklist (UHC Form 220) b. Veteran Grant Program Matrix and Funding Instructions (UHC Form 225) and c. Utah First-time Homebuyer Veteran Grant Wire/Funding Request (UHC Form 224) d. Utah Veteran First-time Homebuyer Grant Reservation Agreement (UHC Form 223). Title Company Failure to complete any of the steps in this section will result in delays in funding (wiring) the VeteranGrant to the title company.

7. Lender must send to the title company the following documents: at least three-four business days prior to closing: a. Closing instructions on how to obtain the grant funds for funding, (Title Companies form)

b. Title Agent to review and sign the following: Utah First-time Homebuyer Veteran Grant Wire/Funding Request (UHC Form 224)

Utah Housing Form 224 must be completed by Title (e-signatures are accepted). c. Securely send to Utah Housing Form 224 (referenced above) to GrantPrograms@ at least

three business days prior to closing. 8. Utah Housing must receive the Veteran Grant Wire/Funding Request (UHC Form 224) at least two business days

prior to the funding (recording) date.

In no instance will Utah Housing fund the Veteran Grant the same day the Veteran Grant Funding Documents are received by Utah Housing. The escrow bank requires 2-3 business days to wire grant funds.
