GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The position of Vice President of Finance is an integral part of the company’s management team. All accounting functions relative to our multi-divisional operation and subsidiaries are processed, coordinated and disseminated by the Accounting Department. Further, the Vice President of Finance will guide and assist the President/CEO and other members of the management team on matters related to financial policy development, budget preparations, monitoring quarterly and annual reports including variance analysis, internal auditing, cost accounting, investments, loan preparation and protection of assets.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, with a business management minor desired. Thorough knowledge of budgeting and accounting practices, processes and procedures of non-profit organizations. High level of analytical ability required to review, interpret and analyze complex financial reports and activities and present findings to management. Understanding of computer operations required. Preference given to manufacturing experience and previous management leadership.

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills required. Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate at all levels. Must be able to supervise subordinates, manage time and monitor all accounts. Complete knowledge of GAAP as they pertain to not-for-profits.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

Because this position is part of the ODC’s management team, the individual filling it should feel comfortable working with other management team members. He/She should also be able to relate well with company personnel, which deal directly with the ODC’s Accounting Department. This is a challenging position requiring the effective coordination of data from all departments and periodically has demanding hours. Mandatory DHS Background Study and OIG-LEIE exclusion searches.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Prepare, analyze and interpret monthly financial reports as required by the Finance/Audit Committee, Board of Directors and President/CEO.

2. Coordinate the annual operating and capital budget process; establish concepts, procedures, policies, timelines and instructions; provide training and/or guidance to divisional management; understand and address major variances between actual and budget; and, assume responsibility for the timely preparation and distribution of the combined, final budget presentation package for Leadership and Board of Directors.

3. Develop financial analytical tools and measures actual performance against budget forecasts.

4. Proactively communicates meaningful financial information to management and divisions to enable them to make prudent decisions.

5. Direct cash management functions to ensure monthly accounts payable and cash flow goals are met.

6. Organize and direct year-end audits and act as a liaison between management and external auditors.

7. Coordinate and integrate efforts across divisions to enhance inventory accuracy. Research inventory discrepancies and make necessary corrections. Prepares and analyzes inventory reports.

8. Accountable for ensuring that policies and procedures (internal controls) are in place to provide reasonable assurance that the company assets are protected (i.e. finance, credit policies).

9. Identifies the requirements and capabilities of the accounting and financial computer system, maximizing the use of system features.

10. Responsible for commercial insurance coverage (i.e. property, auto, liability).

11. Oversee maintenance of all bank accounts including reconciliation of cash accounts and Line of Credit. Approve bank account signature cards and service as administrator for on-line banking activities.

12. In conjunction with the Vice President of Business Development & Operations, evaluate and assist in the financial analysis of new product and manufacturing equipment capital requests.

13. Ensure that the accounting department is staffed with qualified personnel capable of meeting the objectives and responsibilities of the company. Responsible for continued development of these employees.

14. Prepares tax information and filings, financial statements for the audited annual report and IRS Form 990 filing.

15. Prepare various financial reports for outside agencies such as RSB, counties, United Way, Department of Health, lending institutions and insurance companies.

16. Perform other duties as assigned and as changing conditions require, and new opportunities arise.
