The VPSA is charged with the overall management planning, administration, and evaluation of the division’s programs, services, personnel, policies, procedures development, facilities and budget. The VPSA plays a principal role in setting and enacting Georgia Piedmont Technical College priorities and keeping the College engaged in national conversations affecting student affairs. The VPSA is responsible for creating an environment of collegiality and inclusiveness for the College’s diverse student body and providing executive-level leadership and direction in the administration of a comprehensive range of services, policies and procedures. The VPSA is a member of the President’s Cabinet and reports directly to the President, serving as a leader and collaborator in the College’s strategic planning and decision-making activities. The VPSA is responsible for fostering the College’s commitment to student success by actively developing, implementing, and maintaining programs that enrich student learning, build and maintain a strong sense of community, and promote growth through engagement in the life of the College. Working with faculty and staff, the VPSA serves as an advocate for student learning in all dimensions of student life and has a strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.Supervises the Dean of Student Affairs, Admissions Office, Advising, Career and Retention Services (ACRS), Financial Aid Office, Registrar Office, Special Services Office, Career Services Office, Assessment and Testing Office, and Student Activities. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIESEnsure divisional compliance with the institutional mission by reviewing and approving unit plans, goals and objectives, and service activities.Develop and maintain a properly coordinated delivery of essential student services by organizing the various units and sub-units in a logical, non-duplicative, and effective manner to best meet the work requirements of the division and the needs of the student body.Responsible for conducting Student Affairs Leadership (SALT) meetings.Assure the prompt and effective delivery of student services by monitoring workloads throughout the division and prioritizing staffing needs accordingly.Enable division employees to perform their assigned tasks by coordinating the annual budget and retaining executive authority over all budgets within the Division of Student Affairs. Facilitate an active and collaborative relationship between Student Affairs and other divisions (Academic Affairs, Business and Finance, Advancement/Foundation, etc.)Encourage high morale and quality student service through a leadership style which causes employees to strive for the achievement of annually established goals and objectives.Manage the achievement of division goals by developing effective controls to guide work effort toward expected outcomes.Promote positive student relations by maintaining effective lines of communication with student leaders and serving as a strong advocate for the non-academic, extra-curricular, and co-curricular needs of students.Support positive relations for the College by communicating and interacting with city, state, and other officials in matters related to Student Affairs.Facilitate a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.Remain competent and current through self-directed professional reading, developing professional contacts with colleagues, attending professional development courses, and attending training and/or courses as required.Support and assist the President by providing regular reports, developing proposals for approval of the President, and completing other tasks and duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A Bachelor’s degree from a nationally or regionally accredited college or university *AND* seven (7) years of related work experience. ORA Master's degree from an accredited college or university in educational leadership, vocational administration, counseling, or a closely related field *AND* a minimum of three (3) years full-time paid work experience within the past seven years. Occupational experience must have occurred in a setting appropriate to leadership/management of student services. Must have five years’ experience in a secondary, postsecondary or higher educational environment. NOTE: APPLICATIONS WILL BE SCREENED AT THE PREFERRED LEVEL.
