Hamlet MEDIA CREATION PROJECT

THE TASK:

You have to create a media piece that demonstrates your thorough and insightful understanding of Shakespeare’s Hamlet and your ability to think critically and creatively.

CRITERIA:

Demonstrate knowledge of Hamlet—characters, themes, language, and the plot structure of the play

Effective use of chosen format – Be sure to look up some exemplars of your chosen format and use them to master the criteria for each one. For example, Google inforgraphics or movie trailers.

Understanding of purpose and audience – Who is your audience? What is the purpose for creating this piece? How do these targets inform your creative choices?

POSSIBLE RICH MEDIA TASKS:

o Mini-documentary illustrating Gertrude and Claudius’s brief courtship and wedding preparations

o Ghost’s handbook guide for exacting revenge

o Political campaign commercial(s)/attack ads

o TV show set in Denmark

o Newscast

o Newspaper (not just one hard new article)

o Blog

o Video Game cover with instructions

o Commercial / Public Service Announcement

o Song / music video

o Radio talk show

o Photo essay (must include summaries of photos)

o Board game with instructions

o Story board a dream sequence

o Ophelia or Gertrude’s journal / diary

o Infographic or glogster

If you have an alternate idea, you must first get approval from your instructor.

MAKE SURE THAT YOU FIND EXAMPLES OF THE TYPE OF MEDIA THAT YOU WANT TO CREATE SO THAT YOU FULLY UNDERSTAND THE CRITERIA OF EACH FORMAT.
