LE MANS SERIES – 11-13 SEPTEMBER 2009

With Aston Martin having locked out the podium at the last Le Mans Series round at the Nurburgring, expectations are high for the British marque. Indeed, with two Club Members on the podium in Germany, there will be strong support from the Club at Silverstone’s premier sports car race meeting of the year.

The Clubhouse will be open on the Friday of the Le Mans Series weekend between 10am and 5pm with soup and sandwiches on the menu for lunch.

Saturday and Sunday’s opening times will be 9am to 6pm with a light bite lunch served on the Saturday and a carvery on the Sunday. The BRDC Club Shop will be open between 10am and 4pm on Saturday and Sunday and by request on Friday.

Members wishing to stay on the campsite should contact Sarah or Becky in the office to book their place.

LINCOLNSHIRE AVIATION HERITAGE CENTRE VISIT – TUESDAY 22 SEPTEMBER 2009

Sarah is still taking bookings for group visit to the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre in East Kirkby, Spilsby, Lincolnshire on Tuesday 22 September 2009.

There will be the chance to hear the fantastic sounds of an original WWII Lancaster bomber as it taxies across the airfield runway at one of their regular Lancaster taxi run days between 11am and 1.30pm.

There is also a museum which Members can look around with a large collection of displays commemorating WWII plus the Naafi where you can purchase refreshments.

Transport will be running from Silverstone, for those who wish to meet at the Circuit and travel up together. The cost for this will depend up on the take up, but entry is approximately £5 per person.

If time allows the visit will also take tea (or perhaps something stronger) at the old 617 Squadron Officers’ Mess which is now a rather smart hotel. Please book your place with Sarah in the BRDC Office on 01327 850925 or email sarah.carnell@brdc.co.uk

DRIVEN PHEASANT SHOOT – THURSDAY 3 DECEMBER 2009

There are still places available on the Day’s Driven Pheasant Shoot on Thursday 3 December.

John Woodington is organising the event, which will be held near Instow, North Devon at the cost of approximately £400 per gun. Half the fee is payable upon booking your place with the remainder due by Thursday 1 October, 2009. Places can be booked through John on 01271 890204 or 07717093729 or by emailing him on jwoodington1@.

John also recommends accommodation at the Commodore Hotel (modore-instow.co.uk) or The Wayfarer ().

BRDC WEB-SITE UPDATE

Statistics provided by Google show the new Club website is receiving a lot of traffic, which is good news. If you would like to link from your own web-site to the Club’s then Members are most welcome to do so. The web-site address is brdc.co.uk.

Thank you to those Members who have been in touch with information regarding their profiles. Sarah is still welcoming any details to assist with the mammoth task of creating the 850 profiles and can be contacted via sarah.carnell@brdc.co.uk or on 01327 850925.

BRDC MCLAREN AUTOSPORT BRDC YOUNG DRIVER OF THE YEAR AWARD

After a three year absence, the assessments for this important and, more often than not, career changing award will take place at Silverstone once again.

This is an important and prestigious award and the Club is pleased to be able to host the event.

NEW BRDC MOTORSPORT SHOOTING COMPETITION – WEDNESDAY 7 OCTOBER 2009

All Members should have now received a downloadable booking form for the all-new BRDC Motorsport Clay Pigeon Competition, which will be hosted by BRDC President Damon Hill OBE with Valentine Lindsay your Shoot Prinicipal for the day.

The day will be held in aid of Motorsport Endeavour and will cost £100 (including VAT) per person with teams to include five people. This year’s event is set to be the biggest and the best with entries open to both Members and non-members.

The shoot will be a 100 Clay Pigeon Shoot with a Flush at the end of the day. Individual prizes are on offer for performances by individuals and teams, sponsored by V12 Telecom. HSBC are among the first teams to put their name down with a team and will be joined at the event by some of the young drivers from the Club’s Superstar and Rising Star schemes who they support as Patrons of the Club.

Coffee and bacon rolls upon arrival and lunch are included in the day which starts at 9.30am while there will also be tea to enjoy during the prize giving.

The day will take place at EJ Churchill, West Wycombe on Wednesday 7 October. Please contact Sarah in the BRDC Office to arrange for an application form to be sent out and book your place, if you have not already received the booking form via email. We will need to know whether those taking part are experienced or novices for their own safety. Cartridges and guns can be provided for novices.

To secure your place, please fill in the form and return to Sarah with payment. Those who have already booked will also need to return a form to the BRDC office.

ASTON MARTIN OWNERS CLUB - SUNDAY 18 OCTOBER 2009

The Aston Martin Owners Club will be holding its season finale at Silverstone. Please note that this is a change to the original calendar and the previously advertised Pro Series club meeting will not be taking place.

The Clubhouse will be open on the Sunday between 10am and 5pm serving a light bite lunch menu.

It is worth reminding Members that the AMOC put on a really good historic race meeting. The variety and quality of grids is excellent and in many ways the meeting is a ‘mini Silverstone Classic’. It always seems a pity that we get strong support for the Silverstone Classic and the Vintage Sports-Car Club meeting in April, yet the AMOC meeting is something of a poor relation. Do come and enjoy the day; you won’t be disappointed.

SOCIAL LUNCH – WEDNESDAY 21 OCTOBER 2009

October marks the return of the BRDC Social Lunches here at Silverstone following the summer break and is your opportunity to meet up with fellow Members and enjoy your Clubhouse away from busy race weekends.

Members are welcome to bring Guests to this lunch, which will begin at 12.30pm. If you would like to come along, contact Aspire Hospitality on 01327 850104 or email brdcreservations@aspirehospitality.co.uk

BRDC ANNUAL AWARDS 2009 – MONDAY 7 DECEMBER 2009
