The following is a report of activities and work done during the period of October 13, 2017 through November 13, 2017.

Activity Concerning the Casano Community Center: The teakwood furniture should be weather treated before the cold weather sets in. The wooden tables and chairs have begun to separate, splinter and fade. The center will be closed on November 23, 24 for Thanksgiving and December 22 and 25 for Christmas.

Community Affairs: We are very thankful to our Residents, Cub Scout 56, Girl Scouts, Council-At-Large Charlene Storey, Councilman Eugene Meola, Councilman William Fahoury, RP Democratic Committee, Mr. and Mrs. DiOrio, Anna Picarelli-Elicheko, Dina Pereira, Meridia Development, and the Methodist Church for donating perishable and non-perishable food, which has enabled us to maintain a stocked food pantry. Also, Farmers Market for donating and Friends of the Library for delivering fresh fruits and vegetables to the Center. Fruits and Vegetables are offered free to our residents. October 23, 20 seniors enjoyed a trip to the Cracker Barrel. October 27 Roselle Park High School students enjoyed Club Casano. The program is free for RP High school students from 6 pm to 9 pm. Free Pizza and refreshment were served. Students enjoyed live music, Ping-Pong and Arcade Games. Thank you, Committee member Kit Rubino for chaperoning the kids. October 30, Councilman Fahoury and I visited residents on Bender Avenue for their possible involvement in planning a Halloween Community Haunted House for the year 2018. I am happy to report that 4 residents had shown a great deal of interest. November 2, Free Martial Arts program was offered to Roselle Park residents. Since no interest was shown by 13 to 18 age group, the program will be redesigned to make it interesting for other age groups. Thank you, Carl Pluchino for volunteering your time to instruct. November 11 was Veterans Day. The Borough hosted a remembrance service at the Veterans Memorial Library. The service began at 11:00 am in front of the library. Thank you all for attending the service. Thank you, Library personal for offering refreshments after the ceremony. Thank you, Roselle Park High School Marching Band for your performances. November 15 is scheduled for the Middle School Fall Dance. This event is free for 6th grade students only. There will be live music, Free Pizza and refreshments. November 15, the center will be distributing Thanksgiving Baskets from 9 am to 8 pm.

Thank you, Girl Scouts for 13 Thanksgiving Baskets and the Middle School for helping prepare the baskets.

November 26, Girl Scouts will decorate the tree at the Gazebo Park at 11:30 am. Girl scouts will serve free refreshments during the event.

The Borough will kick-start the holidays on December 1 with the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and activities. The event will begin at 5:00 pm with the rain date December 8. From 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, kids' will enjoy free activities such as Pony Rides, Face Painting, Balloon Artist, etc. Roselle Park Local PBA 27 will serve free Pizza and Hot Chocolate and Casano Center Association will serve free popcorn while supplies last Starting at 7:00 pm, there will be live performance by Roselle Park School District. Roselle Park Fire Department will present Santa and Mrs. Claus with a special entry followed by the Tree Lighting Ceremony. Residents will be able to take pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus after the Ceremony in the Gazebo.

December 6, Seniors will enjoy Stony Hill Holiday Event at Hackensack. Free Bus service will be provided to Roselle Park seniors.

December 7, Casano Center Association will decorate the center for the Holiday. December 8, seniors will be attending a Senior Dance Party at the Roselle Park High School. December 8, seniors will enjoy Godspell Play at the Union High School at 10:00 am. Free Bus

service will be provided to Roselle Park seniors. December 13, Casano Center Association will be hosting a Holiday Party for the members. December 20, seniors will attend a Holiday Party at Aldene School. Students will serve free

food to our seniors and perform live after the lunch. Free Bus service will be provided to Roselle Park seniors. December 20, seniors will enjoy a Holiday Concert at the Roselle Park High School. The Union County Home Improvement and Senior Home Improvement Program is available to qualified union county residents and seniors. More information is available to the residents at the Casano Community Center.

Grants / Donation: Roselle Park Local PBA 27, Pizza and Hot Chocolate for Annual Christmas Tree Lighting. Applied CDBG Senior Service Grant for the Year 2018 for $40,000.

The following is a report of activities and work done during the period of September 19, 2017, through October 13, 2017. Activity Concerning the Casano Community Center:

Community Affairs: We are very thankful to our Residents, Girl Scouts and the Methodist Church for donating perishable and non-perishable food, which has enabled us to maintain a stocked food pantry. Also, thanks to the Farmers Market and Friends of the Library for providing free fresh fruits and vegetables to our residents. I want to thank Superintendent Pedro Garrido, Principals Ms. Glomb, Ms. Kenny, Ms. Carlene, and Ms. Scully for helping reach out to more than 300 approved lunch program recipients. At the present time we have 40 families who have registered for our food pantry. The Casano Center food pantry will prepare and distribute food every Wednesday from 9 am to 8 pm throughout the year. October 8, more than 100 residents celebrated the "European Heritage Festival" from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with an annual celebration and cultural fair. Sandy & the Wanderers made the afternoon festive and moved the crowd to dance. Thank you, Mayor Hokanson, Council at Large Charlene Storey, Councilman Eugene Meola, Councilman Joe Petrosky, Councilman William Fahoury and Assemblyman Bramnick for attending the event. Thank you, RoseMarie Matkowski, Eleanor Gilbride, Sonia Chafla and Committee member Maxine Padulsky for your time and volunteering for our events. Thank you, Mayor Hokanson and Councilman Petrosky for your help in the cleanup after the event. Thank you to the Roselle Park Casano Center Association, Roselle Park Education Association, Vintage Italian Restaurant, Costa's Restaurant & Pizzeria, Sun Tavern, and Sunrise Diner for your donations. Citizens Educational Advisory Committee has moved their monthly meetings to the Casano Center from RP High School. The meetings will be held on Wednesday October 18, February 21 and May 16 at 10:00 am. Casano Center Association has scheduled their monthly meeting on October 19 at 1 pm. October 23, 16 seniors will be taking a free trip to the Cracker Barrel.

October 27, is scheduled for Club Casano from 6 pm to 9 pm. Club Casano is free to RP High

school students. Free Pizza and refreshments will be served. There will be live music, Ping-

Pong and Games.

The Recreation committee has reserved the center for a Halloween party on October 28 from

2 pm to 5 pm.

Starting November 2, the Casano Center will be offering free Martial Arts to Roselle Park

residents. Martial arts will be offered every Tuesday and Thursday from 5 pm to 6 pm. The

classes are limited to 20 students on first come first serve basis for the ages 13 to 18 years.

Residents must register in person to participate. Students will be responsible to pay for their

own Uniform and Gear.

The center will be closed on November 7 for Election Day and November 10 for Veterans Day,

November 23 and 24 for Thanksgiving.

November 11 on Veterans Day, The Borough will host a remembrance service at the Veterans

Memorial Library. The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. in the front of the library. Refreshments

will be served after the ceremony.

November 26, Girl Scouts will decorate the tree at the Gazebo Park at 11:30 am. Free

refreshments will be served during the event.

The Union County Home Improvement and Senior Home Improvement Program is available to

qualified union county residents and seniors. More information is available to the residents at

the Casano Community Center.

Received $200 from Pride Grant for Festival of India.

Received food donation from Vintage Italian Restaurant, Costa's Restaurant & Pizzeria, Sun

The following is a report of activities and work done during the period of August 14, 2017, through September 18, 2017. Activity Concerning the Casano Community Center:

The center will be close on October 9 for Columbus Day. Community Affairs:

We are very thankful to our Residents and the Methodist Church for donating perishable and non-perishable food, which has enabled us to maintain a stocked food pantry. Also, thanks to Farmers Market and Friends of the Library for providing free fresh fruits and vegetables to our residents.

September 9, almost 100 participated to our free HEART Grant concert at the Michael J. Mauri Gazebo Park "STUDIO 54 - THE SOUNDS OF DISCO." Joe Caroselli and the Masterpiece band moved the crowd to dance and sing along. Free concert was open to the public and made possible in part by a HEART (History, Education, Arts Reaching Thousands) Grant from the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders. Thank you Casano Center Association for providing free refreshments. Thank you, Mayor Hokanson, Councilman Fahoury, Councilman Connelly, Councilman Shipley, and Councilman Petrosky for attending the concert.

September 11, close to 200 residents came to the Memorial service, to pray for those who lost their lives, their families, and those who bravely fought to save others. Thank you, Roselle Park Police Department, Fire Department, County EMS, Mayor Hokanson, Councilman Fahoury, Councilman Connelly, Councilman Shipley, Councilman Meola, Councilman Petrosky and Senator Tom Kean Jr. for your presence. Thank you, Mariann Brenner, High School band and Pat Hinds for your time.

September 16, more than 800 celebrated third "Festival of India". Everyone enjoyed free food live music and traditional dance. The event was free for everyone at the Roselle Park High School. Thank you, Volunteers Sonya Cabeza, Rose Marie, Eleanor Gilbride, Nila Patel, Malvine Jacobson, Committee members, Vipul Patel, KC Patel and Maxine Padulsky for their time and efforts to make the event a great success. Thank you, Roselle Park School district, Superintendent Pedro Garrido, High School principal Sarah Costa, Mrs. Kurz and the SASS club for helping promote the event and for their continued support.

September 19, 16 seniors will be enjoying a trip to the Jefferson House in Lake Hopatcong.

Starting September 19, Girl Scouts will be using the center for their regular meetings every

Tuesday for the school year.

October 8, Borough will be celebrating "European Heritage Festival" from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00

p.m. with an annual celebration and cultural fair. The event is free for everyone and will be

held at the Casano Community Center. The event features traditional food and live music by

Sandy & the Wanderers.

Sun Tavern, and Sunrise Diner for your donations.

October 16, seniors will be taking a free trip to Delicious Orchard and the Cracker Barrel on

October 23.

Starting October, we are introducing four new programs for our middle school and high school

students. These programs are free to Roselle Park residents. Class size will be limited and on

first come first serve base. Residents are required to register in person. They will also be

responsible for purchasing their own uniform, equipment, and floor mats for yoga.

Martial Arts, every Tuesday and Thursday from 5 pm to 6 pm and will be limited

to 20 students

o Thank you, Carl Pluchino for volunteering and dedicating the time for

our residents.

Yoga, every Monday and Wednesday from 5 pm to 6 pm and will be limited to

30 students.

Club Casano and the Middle School Dance will be held once a month on Friday

with live music and free refreshments.

The following is a report of activities and work done during the period of July 17, 2017, through August 14, 2017.

Activity Concerning the Casano Community Center: We are still in search of a Bus Driver.

Community Affairs: We are very thankful to our Residents and the Methodist Church for donating perishable and non-perishable food, which has enabled us to maintain a stocked food pantry. Also, thanks to Farmers Market, Friends of Library and Christine Lettieri for donating and transporting fresh fruits and vegetables, which is offered free to our residents. On July 25 and August 8, 20 High School students participated in "Club Casano." Kids enjoyed the music by DJ Tiserro, Ping Pong, Arcade games, free pizza, and soda. Thank you, Suneth Tiserro and Committee member Kit Rubino for your time and for chaperoning the kids. August 1, was the Car Show and 17th National Night out. The event was well attended and more than 55 cars, jeeps and motorcycles participated in the show. Kids enjoyed inflatables, water slides, carnival games, Roselle Park Arts, Disney characters, Stormtroopers and Darth Vader. The Roselle Park Police Department, Fire Department, and Union County EMS displayed their vehicles on Chestnut Street in front of the Casano Community Center for children to climb into and learn about the vehicles. Parents also enjoyed the live music by Brian Clayton and the Green River Band. Thank you Mayor Hokanson, Councilwomen Storey, Councilman Petrosky, Councilman Fahoury, and Councilman Connelly for attending the show. Thank you, VIP Gold Sponsors: Carl A. August 2, the Union County Division on Aging Department of Human Services distributed vouchers to more than 200 Union County seniors at the center. September 9, a free HEART Grant concert is scheduled at Michael J. Mauri Gazebo Park from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. "STUDIO 54 - THE SOUNDS OF DISCO" is a very entertaining and

educational program, Joe Caroselli and his group present the Disco hits that are a "must play" for a fun evening. Songs by Donna Summer, Michael Jackson, Barry White, Gloria Gaynor, the Bee Gees, the Village People, KC and the Sunshine Band, and more ...

The concert is free and open to the public. The program is made possible in part by a HEART (History, Education, Arts Reaching Thousands) Grant from the Union County Board of Chosen Freeholders.

September 11, the annual Remembrance Service is scheduled at 7:00 PM at Kelly-Kaulfers Memorial Park, located on Laurel Avenue next to the Firehouse. The ceremony will serve to honor and remember the victims and heroes of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. The Borough will also honor those serving in the military, both abroad and here at home.

September 16, is the Boroughs third "Festival of India" from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. with an annual celebration and cultural fair. The event is free for everyone and held at the Roselle Park High School. The event features traditional food, a dance performance, and live music by Desi Beats Entertainment. Everyone will gather in the cafeteria area at 6:00 p.m. for free traditional food followed by "Garba" and "Ras" the traditional Indian dance in the gym area. Thank you to the Roselle Park Casano Center Association, Roselle Park Education Association, Rita Pharmacy, Quality Auto Center, 7-11 (Westfield Avenue), Indo-American Senior Association of Union County, and Dunkin Donuts, for your donations.

Special thank you, to committee member Maxine Padulsky for donating her time working a private party at the Casano Center.

Grants / Donation: Received $100 from 7 11 for Festival of India. Received $250 from Quality Auto Center for Festival of India. Received $250 from Rita Pharmacy for Festival of India. Received refrigerator from Councilman Connelly.
