Recommended Internet Explorer Settings

The recommendations allow optimum use of PrimeSuite. To apply these Internet Explorer settings, open an Internet Explorer browser and follow these steps.

1. On the View menu:

NOTE: The following are the default settings, but can sometimes be inadvertently reset by other applications.

a. Select Text Size

i. Ensure the selected option is set to Medium

b. Select Encoding

i. Ensure the selected option is set to Unicode

2. On the Tools menu select Internet Options:

a. On the General tab under the Browsing options section, click the Settings Button:

i. Set the Check for newer versions of stored pages option to Automatically

ii. Set Disk space to use in the Temporary Internet Files section to 512 MB - 768 MB

b. On the Security tab:

NOTE: If you are unsure how you are to set up access to this server, the PrimeSuite Application Server IP, net bios name and fully-qualified domain name should be added to the Trusted Sites list. Greenway recommends using the Application Server's IP address to access it throughout the network so there is never any need for translation to reach the server.

i. In the Select a zone to view or change security settings. box, click to select the Trusted Sites icon (by default, it is a green checkmark), then click the Sites button to gain access to the list of trusted sites

ii. Review the list

NOTE: PrimeSuite 2007 automatically places the shortcut name of the workstation on the trusted sites list. It is good practice to add the other server names and the IP in the event of a name resolution problem.

iii. If the PrimeSuite Application Server does not automatically become a trusted site after you launch PrimeSuite, or if it has been removed, add it to the list manually by typing the full URL ( or for your server IP) in the Add this website to the zone: entry box and clicking the Add button.

[pic]

NOTE: It is possible to use any type of recognized name resolution for your PrimeSuite shortcuts, however Greenway recommends that you use the IP address when possible to eliminate the possibility of name resolution problems affecting your users. This is of particular importance in remote locations where connectivity issues manifest the most.

c. Set the Security level for the Local intranet and Trusted sites sets to Low. (Click the appropriate icon in the box entitled "Select a zone to view or change security settings." to select the desired zone.)

NOTE: This should be the default setting. If it has been changed, click Restore Defaults to revert to the Low setting.

d. Active X controls should be set to Enable for the Local intranet and Trusted sites sets.

NOTE: Setting these controls to Prompt or Disabled will cause conflicts in PrimeSuite with controls on the Registration (Check-In), Scheduling, and Patient Desktop screens as well as other areas of the product.

e. Settings on the Advanced tab should be Default except for the "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts" checkbox; this option should be unselected. If you are unsure whether the options on this tab are set to defaults, click the Restore advanced settings button and unselect the "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts" checkbox.

Recommended Windows Settings

Recommended operating system: Windows XP

Vista is not recommended for PrimeSuite 2007 (PS2007) or prior releases.

PrimeSuite 2008 will support both Vista and Windows XP.  While Vista is not recommended for PS2007, several current users are running this version with the Vista operating system successfully. Development can provide a document outlining Vista settings that can be tried with PS2007, but Greenway does not officially support Vista with this release. Microsoft has extended the deadline for hardware support of Vista to June 2010, an indication that other organizations are having difficulty supporting Vista as well.

Install Windows updates using the following exception rules to avoid known issues with PrimeSuite:

1. Open an Internet Explorer (IE) browser, go to the Tools menu and select Windows Updates.

2. On the Microsoft Update page, select Express

3. After the Express process checks for available updates, review selected updates and ensure you DO NOT have IE 7 selected unless you are running PrimeSuite 2007 or newer release (See Internet Explorer Settings above)

NOTE: PrimeSuite 2007 supports IE 7 with one known issue. (CR 31919) Arrows and enter key do not work on the PRC dropdown from Insurance Transactions, Edit Payment, etc. You can use the mouse in this dropdown to work around the problem.

4. Select Download and Install Now and follow the prompts

5. After installation, reboot, if prompted, then repeat steps 1. through 3. to ensure no additional updates are available.

NOTE: In some cases, you may need updates that are dependent on those you just installed; that is why you should check again after your initial updates. It may be necessary to repeat until Express Results returns the message "No High Priority Updates Remain." If that is the case, and you are not running PrimeSuite 2007 or higher, you must continue to ensure that IE 7 is not selected.

Power Management Options

Disable all monitor and hard drive power management settings under the Display properties, Screen Saver tab, Power button for optimum performance of PrimeSuite. Of particular importance are the hard drive settings as they can cause significant response delays within PrimeSuite.

Display Settings

PrimeSuite is designed to function at 1024 x 768 resolution, with Normal (96 DPI) fonts. These settings can be found in the Display properties (accessible through the Control Panel) on the Settings tab, and under the Advanced button on the Settings tab, respectively. Not having these set appropriately will create problems with the appearance of PrimeSuite as well as usability problems on the Patient List, Physicians Desktop, in Registration Check-In, and during payment posting.

Other resolutions are not currently supported by PrimeSuite.

Other Settings

Firewall and Antivirus Settings

There are many different Firewall and Antivirus solutions available today, and Greenway is compatible with all of them if the settings do not restrict the workstation from interacting with the server for the normal use of PrimeSuite. If you are having problems, it may be necessary to change settings or disable Firewall and/or Antivirus applications during trouble-shooting to isolate the issue to those applications or their settings.

Access to the following ports is required for the PrimeSuite Application Server and workstations to interact:

|Port |Usage Description |

|TCP 80 from client to server |Used to exchange data between client and server for PrimeSuite |

| |operation |

|TCP 1492 connection from client to server |Used to exchange data between client and server |

Adobe Flash Version

The minumum Adobe/Macromedia Flash Player version required for PrimeSuite is 7.0. A compatible version is normally downloaded with PrimeSuite components.

If the Flash Player version on the workstation is not compatible, you may experience problems with the Greenway Root Support Page and in the Vitals or Sticky Notes sections of the Patient Chart in PrimeSuite. If you are experiencing problems in those areas you will want to uninstall and reinstall Flash.

To uninstall, use the Add or Remove Programs dialog, available through the Control Panel. To download and install a compatible Flash version, in PrimeSuite, go to System Settings, select the Utilities tab and click Analyze to check compatible components. The Greenway Root Support Page will be presented. You should see red X to the left of the Flash component. Click Download to the right of this component and follow prompts.

If you cannot download components from the Root Support Page, you can still download the latest Flash version from Adobe at .

Wireless Networking

The best practice is to use the manufacturer’s wireless management software when working with tablet operating systems and Cisco Access Points. Currently, Greenway supports Motion, Toshiba, and Dell for Motion mobile computing solutions. We sell and support Cisco Wireless Access Points. Greenway also uses WPA authentication and encryption to secure the network traffic passing within PrimeSuite.

Network Interface Card Settings

For optimum performance of PrimeSuite, disable any power management features that allow your Network Interface Card (NIC) to be shut down by the Operating System. This is particularly important on mobile devices; they are generally set more aggressively for power savings.

The NIC should be set to Auto Detect for Duplex and Line Speed whenever possible, but 100 MB Full Duplex is preferred.

Update to the latest manufacturer's driver if you are experiencing any speed problems or random error messages. Check your NIC manufacturer's website for details on how to download and install their drivers.

(See also Power Management Options under Windows Settings above.)
