The instructional designer will be involved in the design, delivery and evaluation of the project. The post also supports the wider design and delivery of high quality online and blended learning programmes to academic schools in UEL that are aligned to UEL’s Academic Strategy (2016) and provide engaging and flexible learning experiences to our students. The post holder will provide consultancy, advice and support in developing pedagogically sound solutions.MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To lead on the learning design of online modules developed for UEL’s CBL project working closely with subject matter experts to apply our CBL instructional design approach. Developing competencies/learning outcomes and creating digital and adaptive content that matches to professional standards.To contribute to a systematic programme of research and evaluation of the CBL programme in order to contribute to its ongoing development and effectiveness.To provide innovation in learning design through applying a variety of analytical techniques to improve upon current practice.Overseeing and co-ordinating the planning, design and development of high quality online programmes of study and managing related projects and staff involved.Designing, assessing and improving the student learning experience of online modules.Working with academic staff on their content requirements and identifying appropriate and innovative solutions.Writing clear and effective storyboards for the development and delivery team to work from.Produce well written audio and video scripts to produce high quality course assets.Coordinate timelines and workstreams of the Learning technology team in the development of module.Support the creation of content on the University’s Virtual Learning Environment (VLE - Canvas), for CBL and Distance Learning Programmes (with input from subject staff). Maintain project documentation and course folders during project lifecycles.Provide technical expertise to academic staff, including knowledge of a variety of online platforms and tools.Participate and report back to CELT on relevant committees, working groups or user groups as determined by the Head of CELT.Engage systematically in appropriate professional development, horizon scanning and research activities, in order to provide an informed perspective on best practices in staff development in HE; inform institutional strategies and engage academic and relevant professional services colleagues. Work as an active team member within the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching to support the delivery of its objectives and undertake any other duties as may be required by the Head of CELT that are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job.Work in accordance with UEL policies, including our Equality & Diversity policy. PERSON SPECIFICATIONEDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS AND ACHIEVEMENTSKNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCEEssential:Significant experience either teaching online or the ability to provide instructional design consulting services to internal and external subject matter experts to design effective learning programmes. (A/I/P)Expertise relating to pedagogical concepts and lesson/curriculum planning. (A/I/P)Evidence of prior experience in online and blended learning design. (A/I/P)Experience of utilising technical development tools and applying new learning technologies.The ability to successfully work on multiple projects simultaneously and drive these through to completion, including requirements gathering and task management. (A/I)Ability to review and evaluate modules/programmes to ensure they are effective.
