All applicants must read and abide by the terms and conditions below and submit an entry form with their work.All categoriesEntry to the competition is FREE and open to young people who live, study or work in the City of Casey.All entries must be submitted with a signed entry form (one form per entry). A parent or guardian’s signature is required for applicants aged 17 years or under.A maximum of two entries per person across all three categories will be accepted.The work being submitted must have been created in the past 2 years.Entries will be judged by a community judging panel. The judge’s decision is final; no further correspondence will be entered into.Finalists will be notified in writing and invited to a presentation evening to be held in November 2019.Finalist entries and artists may be shown in local newspapers and City of Casey publications, including hard copy, electronic and online formats.Selected entries may be displayed at various venues within the City of Casey. Submission of work to this competition does not guarantee work will be exhibited.Selected artworks may be displayed at various venues within the City of Casey. Work which offends community standards or is party political cannot be exhibited. The City of Casey will make all efforts to ensure the safety of the work submitted to the competition; however, no responsibility is taken for lost or damaged works.Works must be an Australian G-rating, as per the Classification (Publications, Films and Computer Games) Act 1995 identified in point 3.7. Visual arts 2D and PhotographyWork will be judged according to year level (or age equivalent) Junior: Grade 5 and 6 Intermediate: Year 7 to 9 Senior: Year 10 to 12All artwork needs to be submitted unframed.The maximum size of artwork is A3. Work larger than this will not be accepted/judged.3D artwork cannot be accepted.Arrangements must be made to collect artwork no later than Friday 30 November 2019 (unless alternative arrangements have been made). Artwork will be collected from the same location it was submitted. Any artwork not collected by this date will become property of the City of Casey. Short filmThe short film category is open to young people aged 10 – 25 years. The “Applicant” is referred to as the “Producer”.Films should be no longer than 5 minutes in duration including the titles and credits and must be submitted with a copy of the script.The Producer must comply with the law in relation to all matters associated with making a film.The Producer indemnifies the City of Casey, its officers and agents for any damage or injury that may occur to my child/me participating in the making of the film.The Producer is the copyright owner of the film entered in the competition. The Producer must obtain permission to use any copyrighted music/images/content featured in the film from the owner of that content, along with an express license for third party rights. City of Casey takes no responsibility for any breach of copyright by other parties.The Producer grants a non-exclusive license to the City of Casey for a period of 12 months for the purposes of conducting the competition and associated promotional activity All films should correspond to an Australian G-rating, as per the Classification (Publications, Films and Computer Games) Act 1995. The G classification is for a General audience. Themes: The treatment of themes should have a very low sense of threat or menace and be justified by context. Violence: Violence should have only a low sense of threat or menace and be justified by context. Sexual violence is not permitted. Sex: Sexual activity should be very mild and very discreetly implied and be justified by context. Language: Coarse language should be very mild and infrequent and be justified by context. Drug use: Drug use should be implied only very discreetly and be justified by context. Nudity: Nudity should be justified by context. Supported formats: Please supply your film as either MP4, AVI or MOV. Finalists will have their film displayed on our studio screen. Maximum screen dimension 250” 16:9 – 5535mm (w) x 3113mm (h). Ratio: 16:9. Maximum resolution: 1920 – 1080P up to 60 frames. Please indicate on your application form what format your film has been produced in.
