Scope and Content Notes

This collection is divided into three series. The first series consists of ADM Ingersoll's daily diaries from 1936 to 1944 and 1946. The second series contains information regarding the groundbreaking ceremonies of Ingersoll Hall at the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, CA. This includes the transcript and reel-to-reel tape of the ceremony. The third series contains various official correspondence from 1942 to 1944. This correspondence has been indexed, giving the date, content and receiver/sender.

This collection also includes Accession 2010-7. Additional records of Admiral Royal E. Ingersoll were received by NHHC on 24 November 2010 from Mr. John H. Bixlen. It was part of the Estate of Alice Ingersoll. The accession includes a copy of the biographical manuscript prepared by Admiral Joseph. M. Worthington, a close friend of Admiral Ingersoll and his family. The manuscript includes photographs and a very large number of copies of official documents as part of the manuscript. The book was published in 1979 and a copy of the book is held by the Navy Department Library in its rare book room. The accession also includes photo albums, scrapbooks, photographs, charts, other miscellaneous albums, certificates, etc.
