Digital Transformation DirectorFaculty/Department: Finance and AdministrationEmployee Group: Administrative Campus: Trafalgar(May be assigned activity at any Sheridan campus)Payband: NOReference #: 19/A/77Hiring Range: $ 122,995.00 - $ 130,682.00Application Deadline: August 6, 2019Salary Range: $ 122,995.00 - $ 153,744.00Application Details: This is a temporary position which may continue for up to two yearsReporting to the VP, Finance and Administration (VP, F&A), the Digital Transformation Director is a senior institutional resource and primary advisor for technical and organizational change projects defined by the President/Vice Presidents (PVP). As Sheridan undertakes to accelerate the adoption of both fundamental and transformative technologies, the Director works with senior staff to develop a sustainable infrastructure that will enable the organization to become nimbler and remain technically current, while driving program and project outcomes. More specifically, the Director will provide oversight by reviewing and assessing Project Springboard to ensure the project is meeting the principles and objectives developed by PVP to address Sheridan’s need to accelerate its digital transformation. Project Springboard is a pan-institutional technological transformation initiative launched in response to the 2020-24 Sheridan Strategic Plan. The incumbent leads the overall coordination of Project Springboard across the institution, working closely with leadership at many levels and project teams to ensure alignment.Specific ResponsibilitiesProviding expert guidance and executive support to architect and implement, as part of Project Springboard, an institutional Program Management function for Sheridan.Providing expert guidance and direction in the prioritization, resourcing, and scheduling of PVP promoted projects, non-discretionary projects, and the development and implementation the short and long-term strategies to support Project Springboard - in collaboration with IT leaders and the Sheridan user community.Collaborating with the IT leadership team to ensure that all PVP promoted projects are aligned to the Sheridan 2024 strategy and meet operational objectives.Ensuring that standards of performance, development programs and other practices that support efficient governance capabilities are in place and being utilized. Providing program oversight of Project Springboard, including related projects and initiatives. Developing/implementing an integrated plan for various components of Project Springboard at all phases of the project and leading a collaborative approach to the development of a Project and Program Management framework throughout the institution.Providing advice and recommendations in project development including but not limited to project requirements, scope, benefits realization, business case, project governance, project plan, and project budget. Working with departmental leadership to perform the necessary level of coordination and analysis on projects to removing any barriers, resolving conflicts, and facilitating rapid decision making so that objectives are met.Ensuring Project scope and Program statuses are clear and accurately communicated upward and working with the PVP to support decision making.Engaging with external advisors and partners, as required.Promoting a culture of support, learning and growth; relying on subject matter expertise of staff and encouraging their use of creativity and innovation to achieve objectives; fostering a safe, respectful, supportive and participative work environment; ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, collective agreements, terms and conditions of employment, policies and procedures.Ensuring the use of budgetary funds for Project Springboard include a formalized business case and budgetary request in addition to ensuring resource allocation is appropriately reported, tracked and optimized. Accountability for resource stewardship, policies, procedures, and compliance, including adherence to legal and policy directives.Providing leadership and support to the committees and associated sub-committees charged with the development and implementation of Project Springboard which includes supporting project-related communication and preparing briefing materials.Providing regular reports to the PVP regarding the overall status of the program, investigates issues and/or concerns identified by VP, F&A and PVP and provides feedback including and recommendations if required.Performing other duties/activities as required.Qualifications 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science or a related field. 6-years of relevant demonstrated experience and senior level leadership experience with project management and change management methodology; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. (or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience).Experience working in post secondary education is preferred.Certification in Project Management methodology, such as Project Management Professional (PMP) – PMI Certification is preferred.Maintained current technical proficiency (skills and knowledge) attained through professional activities and/or additional formal training in technology, customer service, business.Technology governance and change management experience with advanced stakeholder and risk management skills in situations of ambiguity.Experience and strong skill in communicating and inspiring confidence at a senior level with technical and non-technical audiences.Demonstrated experience successfully managing the overall development and implementation of institutional change initiatives within a unionized environment.Strong business acumen and ability to effectively present strategies and plans to senior management. Advanced leadership, change management and project management skills.
