POSITION DESCRIPTION ___________________________________________________________________________________TITLE:Montara Unit DirectorPERFORMANCEPROFILE SOURCE:Management ProfessionalREPORTS TO:VP of OperationsSALARY FUNCTION:Exempt, Salary, 40 Hours/Week MinimumPRIMARY FUNCTION:Directs/manages overall daily operations of the Montara Unit with the primary focus for quality program and service delivery, supervision and training of staff, community relations, USD 437 (Auburn Washburn) Pauline Central & Pauline South relations and membership growth & retention.KEY ROLES:LeadershipEstablish programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success and that create a club environment that facilitates achievement of 1) Positive Self Identity 2) Health & Well-being 3) Positive Values 4) Commitment to Learning 5) Social Competency & 6) Community & Civic InvolvementEnsure Core Programs are the foundation of club experience and activities that include 1) Character & Leadership Development 2) Education & Career Development 3) Health & Life Skills 4) The Arts & 5) Sports, Fitness & RecreationStrategic PlanningPlan, develop, implement and evaluate programs, services and activities to ensure they meet stated objectives and member needs and interests.Work in collaboration with Program Development Team to plan and implement a successful and meaningful summer experience based on BGCA Core programs and achieve Youth Development Outcomes Work in collaboration with Program Development Team to plan and implement successful and meaningful before and after school clubs that are based on BGCA Core Programs and that achieve Youth Development OutcomesWork in collaboration with then BGCT Senior Management Team on Montara Unit and growth initiativesIdentify and secure needed supplies and materials for program activities and experiences in advance Resource ManagementManage Montara Unit financial resources assisting in the development of annual budgets & control expenditures against budget.Ensure compliance with BGCT policies & proceduresRecruit, manage and provide career development opportunities for extension and program site staff and volunteers. Ensure effective means of communication and contact exists for Montara Unit staffPartnership DevelopmentCultivate relationships with parents, USD 437 personnel, community leaders & organizationsEnsure licensing guidelines are achieved and maintainedWorking collaboratively and effectively with Montara Impact Team to achieve program goals and objectives and identity unmet needsMarketing & Public RelationsEnsure marketing materials are available and accurately reflects/informs others Routinely evaluate content of BGCT website and Facebook page to highlight areas of interest regarding Montara Unit activities, outcomes & celebrationsBeing an active and visible partner in USD 437 events and activitiesRepresent self as a positive, professional and responsive representative of the Boys & Girls Clubs of TopekaADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIESApprove purchases of needed supplies and equipment within the scope of the budgetWork with staff on special events to carry out programs in all departmentsExercise authority in problems relating to members; utilize guidance & discipline planUtilize effective communication skills and professional standards of conflict resolution should a conflict ariseOther duties as assigned by supervisor or executive staffRELATIONSHIPSInternal: Works to guide and develop Youth Development Leaders in the provision of quality and effective programs and experiences for members of the Montara Unit as well as to work effectively as a team to achieve successful Youth Development Outcomes. Maintains close, daily contact with Club professional staff to interpret and explain organizational mission, program objectives and standards, problem solve issues, and provide/receive information. Has regular contact with members as needed to discipline, advice, guide and counselExternal: Maintains contact with USD 437 administrative staff and school personnel, community groups, member’s parents and others to assist in resolving problems and to enhance/increase awareness of BGCT Montara Unit opportunities.SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:Four year degree from an accredited college or university, business or technical school education (Bachelor’s degree) or the equivalent of suchA minimum of 2 years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning & supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young children, or equivalent experienceDemonstrated ability in personnel supervision, facilities management, and the recruitment & retention of key personnelStrong communication skills, both oral & writtenAbility to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate staffAbility to deal effectively with conflict and discipline problemsWorking knowledge of budget preparation, control, and managementSkills in fundraising eventsDemonstrated ability in working with young people, parents and community leadersDemonstrates excellent teamwork skills and working together to achieve successful outcomesDemonstrates independent work skills to guide effective decision making and positive results for the BGCTMandatory CPR & First Aid CertificationsAcceptable KS MVR (meets BGCT insurance standards)DISCLAIMER:The information presented indicates the general nature and level of work expected of employees in this classification.
