Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) is the maximum allowable weight of the fully loaded vehicle (including passengers and cargo). This number--along with other weight limits, as well as tire, rim size and inflation pressure data--are shown on the vehicle's Compliance Certification Label located on the left front door lock facing or the door latch pillar. The measured GVW must never exceed the GVWR.

Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR) is the maximum allowable weight of the towing vehicle and the loaded trailer-- including all cargo and passengers --that the vehicle can handle without risking damage. (Important: the towing vehicle's brake system is rated for operation at the GVWR--NOT GCWR. Separate functional brake systems should be used for safe control of towed vehicles and for trailers weighing more than 1,500 Lbs, when loaded.) The measured GCW must never exceed the GCWR.

2014 Ford Super Duty trucks offer a combination of standard and optional features that have been specifically designed for customers who tow boats and trailers.

The fully integrated trailer brake controller synchronizes the vehicle's brakes with electrically-actuated drum trailer brakes for smooth braking performance and is available with the Select Shift AutomaticTM transmission with Tow/Haul Mode. Trailer brake controller (verified to be compatible with electrically activated drum brakes and certain Electric-Over-Hydrualic [EOH] actuated drum or disc brake systems). F-Series Super Duty trucks feature standard 4-wheel disc anti-lock brakes, trailer wiring and manual telescoping trailer tow mirrors.

With the Ford TorqShift?5- and 6-speed SelectShift AutomaticTM transmissions, the torque converter maximizes low-speed torque capability. All electro-mechanical shifts are optimized with pure electronic shift controls to provide responsive performance. When the convenient Tow/Haul Mode is selected, unwanted gear-search on steep grades is eliminated. Additionally, the SelectShift Automatic transmission provides engine braking in all forward gears when the transmission is in the "D" (overdrive) position. This assists in controlling vehicle speed when descending hills. Selecting Tow/Haul with the 6.7L Power Stroke?diesel engine will engage the included exhaust brake.
