Section C: Persuasive writing

You are placing an advert on an auction website to sell your car. Write a full and honest description, highlighting all of the good points that will persuade someone to bid on your item. Think carefully about: ? the tone and language you use to make your item sound appealing to potential customers. ? making sure your description is clear and concise. ? the use of fact and opinion in your description. Answer: Up for auction is my pride and joy, this beautiful 1989 ford escort RS turbo. I purchased this car after many years of wanting one but now with regret I need to sell as I no longer have a garage for storage. I couldn't bear to see her out in the winter weather so she needs a new home for Christmas. The specification is as follows ... Standard 1989 exterior with only clear front indicators added and front spotlights removed. The car looks like it has a little bit of paintwork carried out over its 24 year life. I would describe the paintwork to be in excellent condition but not mint. It has a deep, radiant, red shine. The interior is completely standard and well cared for and showing very limited wear. The Recaro front seats are solid and are in excellent order. The wheels are also original with very good tyres fitted. Engine modifications have been kept to a minimum to retain originality and all are bolt on/off items. Modifications include a stainless steel exhaust system and a revised turbo dump valve. The engine sounds very healthy and does not rattle or tap like other higher mileage examples. I have recently carried out maintenance works and a small service on the car. New parts include oil, rocker cover gasket, valve stem oil seals and a replacement shock absorber. The car always drives really well.
