[Pages:35]T.U.S.C. (The Ulti mate Speaki ng Club)

T.U.S.C.

The Grade 5 TUSC program addresses all six types of language arts learning which include: reading, writing, speaking, listening, viewing, and representing. Although we focus on all areas, our emphasis is on speaking and listening skills.

Every person is required to communicate in public in some way at some point in his/her life. A good public speaker is not born. The only way to learn how to speak confidently is to learn the techniques, observe other speakers and practice, practice, practice!

The grade 5 T.U.S.C. (The Ultimate Speaking Club) is a wonderful opportunity to observe, plan and practice. The objectives are not just to improve confidence and abilities, but to encourage good public speaking skills. Twice a cycle on Day and Day -, we will hold a class TUSC meeting where the Chairperson calls on each classmate to present their assigned role for the meeting.

Your child's T.U.S.C. duotang contains a detailed description of

each role. The date of the first meeting is

. Your

child's duty for the first meeting is

. It is very

important that she/he be prepared for each meeting. Unprepared

students will receive a mark of zero. In case of absenteeism,

students will be required to present their two roles at the following

meeting.

If you have internet access at home, please feel free to prepare for your speech at home or you may use the computer in the electronic library during lunch break or after school.

Past experiences with this program have shown incredibly positive results and progress. Please talk to your child as the program progresses over the next few months. Don't hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

Please sign, indicating that you have seen the T.U.S.C. duotang and that you and your child have discussed the responsibility involved in T.U.S.C..
