Billet Aluminum Air/Oil Separator Breather Tank

Thank you for purchasing the universal Trick Flow Billet Aluminum Air/Oil Separator Breather Tank.

The 4oz. capacity tanks feature a modular design that can be used on a variety of applications, including

traditional open breather systems, late model closed systems, and systems for engines equipped with

forced induction. Trick Flow Billet Aluminum Air/Oil Separator Breather Tanks are designed to be used

with Trick Flow oil vapor limiting fittings and plumbing accessories for maximum engine crankcase

ventilation control.

Trick Flow Billet Aluminum Air/Oil Separator Breather Tanks can be used as an Air/Oil Separator or an open

filter breather tank depending on how the unit is incorporated into the PCV or fresh air sides of the engine crankcase

breather system.

Air/Oil Separator Installation

Typically an Air/Oil Separator is used on the PCV side of the engine breather system to reduce the amount of engine oil

vapor entering the intake manifold through the PCV system. In this type of installation it is recommended that Trick Flow oil

vapor limiting fittings with internal strainer be used on the valve cover to plumb the tank into the system, then relocate the

PCV to the top/outlet of the Trick Flow Billet Aluminum Air/Oil Separator Breather Tank.

Breather Tank Installation

Typically a breather tank is used on the fresh air side of an engine breather system and is open to the atmosphere or

plumbed into the system after the MAF sensor on EFI equipped engines. In this type of installation it is recommended that

Trick Flow oil vapor limiting fittings without the filter disc be used on the valve cover to plumb the tank into the system, then

use the open element clamp-on filter adapter TFS-51400870 (available separately), or plumb the top/outlet of the Trick Flow

Billet Aluminum Air/Oil Separator Breather Tank to air intake tube or air filter housing.

Dual Tank Installation

Dual tank installation uses one tank for the PCV side and one tank for the fresh air side of the engine breather system as

described above.

*IMPORTANT NOTE*

Excessive crankcase pressure, or engine oil blowing out the engine breather system could be a symptom of internal

engine damage and should be verified with an engine leak down test prior to installation of air/oil separators or

breather tanks.

8 Installation and Assembly

Disconnect negative battery cable on vehicle to prevent potential electrical shock

Find a suitable location to mount the tank and bracket assembly using the (2) holes on the Stainless Steel Bracket

Lubricate all O-rings with clean engine oil for ease of assembly.

Assemble the Trick Flow Billet Aluminum Air/Oil Separator Breather Tank. Start with installing the drain valve

(Item #10) with O-ring and Lock nut. Lock nut is marked with notch indicating the up direction of the tapered thread.

5. Assemble Inlet tube fitting with O-ring into the Can Body .

6. Assemble Top piece onto the Can body, align 5/8¡± dia. round hole on the bottom of the Top piece with the top of the

Inlet tube fitting and properly align the (6) mounting screw holes.

7. Assemble Fluid Level Sight Plug and Seal into the Can Body

8. Install included Grommet into mounting bracket or Clamp-on filter adapter TFS-51400870 (available separately)

9. Install Mounting Bracket O-ring

10. Install Barb fitting for drain

11. Plumb tank into breather system as described earlier in these instructions

12. Check for fluid leaks and/or vacuum

seals included on assembled Trick Flow Specialties cylinder heads are warranted to the original purchaser to be free from defects in materials and

workmanship for a period of two years from the date of purchase. All other Trick Flow Specialties products are warranted to be free from defects

in materials and workmanship for a period of 90 days. There are no mileage limitations.
