REVIEW OF RULES FOR WAKE COUNTY FRENCH TEACHERS

2017 WAKE COUNTY FRENCH FESTIVAL

REVIEW OF RULES & REMINDERS

• Please do not e-mail or call Delynda Ramirez-Carter with last-minute changes. BEFORE PERFORMING, students should hand to the judges a WRITTEN, CORRECTED list of participants, if any changes were made.

• Please check in at the Registration Desk in the lobby of the main entrance when you arrive.

• Everyone must wear a nametag. Nametags for your students and programs will be provided in your teacher packet that you will receive via courier.

• Standard school lunches will not be available for purchase. A local French bakery, Coffee and Crepes, will have a limited menu of items for sale. STUDENTS ARE ENCOURAGED TO BRING THEIR LUNCH IF THEY DO NOT WISH TO PURCHASE FROM THE BAKERY.

• Students must remain within the limits of Festival (i.e., on the campus of Southeast Raleigh High School—first floor level only) at all times. Students’ whereabouts are the sole responsibility of teachers and their accompanying chaperones.

• There is no lip sync exhibition this year. However, a sing-along portion of the Festival will take place in the gym prior to the start of the awards presentation.

• Remind students to read the program carefully and arrive at least 5 minutes early for their competition. Students will perform in the order listed on the program. Any group changes should be listed on a sheet of paper and participants must hand the corrections to the judges before performing. One student should give his or her name as the representative of each group.

• The participating students must attend the Cultural Exhibits until after the judging. While we advise that at least one person remain with each cultural exhibit at all times, students may leave after the judging has taken place. Please note that neither Southeast Raleigh High School nor the French Festival Coordinators are responsible for loss or damage of unattended exhibits. Exhibits should be dismantled before 11:30 AM.

• Bring your own CD/cassette player, if needed. We cannot supply one for use.

• Any students and teachers may watch any competition. Kindly remain silent and respectful of the contestants. Please encourage students to watch their friends perform or visit the cultural exhibit displays in the gym on the lower level.

• ALL STUDENTS AND TEACHERS MUST BE SEATED IN GYM BY 12:15 pm. Your school should sit together AS FAR UP FRONT AS POSSBILE. Please leave no empty seats between students since gym will be FULL. If you arrive by 12:10, perhaps you can stand in front of the bleachers and direct your students to a group of seats.

• Bring your copies of Festival materials (poems, songs, theater excerpts) if you want them with you. Copies will not be provided on the day of the French Festival.

• ALL FOOD AND BEVERAGES MUST BE CONSUMED IN THE CAFETERIA AND IN OTHER DESIGNATED AREAS. PLEASE ENCOURAGE STUDENTS TO PLACE TRASH IN THE TRASHCANS.

• Participating students must be covered by their school’s insurance policy.
