IBM SPSS v25 Installation and Registration (Mac)

The following set of instructions will walk you through installing IBM SPSS on your computer.

SPSS version 25 is compatible on the following Mac Operating Systems:

? OS Catalina 10.15 (see release notes for important tips) ? OS Mojave 10.14 (with the required fix pack) ? OS High Sierra 10.13 ? OS Sierra 10.12

We suggest that you first obtain the SPSS license code before you begin downloading SPSS.

Simply copy and paste the code into a Word document so that you have it available when prompted to enter it at the end of the installation sequence. You can always enter the code later; however, having it on hand to enter during the installation is much easier.

SPSS software installation link for the MAC is given below.

Mac:

This installation requires at least 1GB of free space on your computer. Because of the large size of the installation file, it is recommended that you are on a DSL or better internet connection. Even with a strong internet connection, the installation may still take up to 30 minutes or longer. While the tool is installing, you may continue to work within other applications on your computer.

Note: Java Runtime Environment must be installed on your computer in order for SPSS to run. If you experience any issues with SPSS or if you are prompted, you may install Java SE Runtime Environment 7u45 from the Oracle website.

Some may experience issues with the SPSS toolbar no being available. If you do not see the toolbar upon installation, you can install the v25 fix pack:

When prompted, save the file in the desired location on your computer. (Note: Depending on your browser, this screen may look a little different.) This step may take up to about 20 minutes if you are on a 128 Kbps internet connection. Once the file has been saved, run the file.

The install wizard will appear.

Navigate through the License Agreement screens by clicking Next.

You will be asked if you would like to install the Python plugin. You will not need it for your course work therefore, select No and then Next. You will then be asked to review and accept the license agreement.

The default install location will automatically be chosen. If you wish to change this, click the Choose button and browse to your desired location. Then click Next.

The install may take several minutes depending on the speed of your computer.

A confirmation will appear when the install is complete. You can then license the product.

When prompted, for the license type, select Authorized user license and click Next.

Copy that code and paste it into the Enter Code field and click Next. This code will only license the software until September 30. At that time, you will need to access the page referenced above to receive an updated license code. For instructions on how to update your license, access the following link ? re/IBM/SPSS/Documents/WAL_S PSS_Updating_an_%20Expired_ %20License.pdf You should then receive confirmation that your copy of SPSS has been licensed.

SPSS will then be ready for use.
