MESSAGE FROM DOUG

Dear Associates,

Taking care of each other has been part of our DNA at Walmart since the company's early days. Sam Walton always encouraged his team members to lend a hand to fellow associates who needed help, and Walmart is proud to continue that tradition today through support of the Associates in Critical Need Trust (ACNT).

The ACNT is designed to help associates when unexpected events cause them to fall behind on daily living expenses. I am honored to join many other Walmart associates in supporting this work.

In this report, you'll read stories of associates who were helped by ACNT--like Fredricka, a Housewares Department Manager in South Carolina, who was able to use a grant from ACNT to buy clothes, food and other essentials when she lost all her belongings in a house fire.

We never know when we'll have to deal with a serious setback, whether it's a fire, flood or illness. I hope you'll join me in supporting ACNT and help the next associate who may be forced to manage an unexpected event.

Thank you for supporting your fellow associates, and for your contribution to ACNT.

Sincerely,

Doug McMillon President and CEO, Walmart, Inc.

MESSAGE FROM JULIE

Dear Associates,

The Associates in Critical Need Trust (ACNT) was created in 2001 with one key focus: associates helping associates. Since its inception, we've been able to provide over $135 million in grants to Walmart associates experiencing financial hardship, and thanks to partners like you, ACNT continues to make a difference.

The spirit of support is exemplified through the generosity of ACNT and those that have stepped up to contribute over the years. During the 2018 campaign, over half of our salaried associates contributed to ACNT. Their contributions added up to over $1.6 million, which helped an estimated 1,600 associates in need! Thanks to your investment, we have the privilege of helping associates in need. The ACNT team appreciates your continued support and trust in this effort.

While we may not be able to predict when tragedy will strike, we can count on the support of our Walmart colleagues--and that's exactly what ACNT is all about.

On behalf of your fellow associates, thank you for all you do to make a difference.

Sincerely,

Julie Gehrki President, Associates in Critical Need Trust

ABOUT ACNT

When our founder, Sam Walton, began the now-famous tradition of "passing the hat" at Saturday Morning Meetings years ago, he laid the foundation for a culture of caring and giving back to fellow associates. It's a tradition that endures today through the Associates in Critical Need Trust (ACNT).

The mission of ACNT is to provide financial assistance to qualifying associates at a Walmart company in the U.S. experiencing financial hardship due to an unexpected event.

Unexpected events--a natural disaster, a home fire, a serious illness or death in the family--are emotionally devastating. But often, they also cause economic hardship. Support from ACNT can help associates and their families bridge the financial gaps caused by these types of unforeseen crises. When you give to ACNT, you provide a little peace of mind, comfort and hope while an associate recovers.

Formed by Walmart management associates in 2001, ACNT is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides charitable grants totaling up to $1,500 to associates in crisis. Eligible associates who are experiencing an economic hardship as a result of qualifying circumstances may apply for a grant from ACNT.

ACNT'S IMPACT: ASSOCIATE STORIES

Every one of the more than 145,000 grants that ACNT has given out over 18 years has made a difference in the life of an individual or family. These associates didn't know that crisis would strike them, but when it did, ACNT and the Walmart family was able to help them.

ANA RODRIGUEZ, NEW JERSEY Fulfillment Specialist associate since 2016 When Ana went to the dentist, she was told she needed oral surgery. Expenses associated with the surgery caused her to fall behind on other bills. Ana went to her HR Coordinator, Andrew Havern, and he told her about ACNT. "Andrew sat down with me and walked me through the process. I was so happy." For Andrew, being able to connect an associate to ACNT is a highlight of his job. "Knowing ACNT can help people on a personal level is exciting," he says. Thanks to ACNT, Ana was able to stay on top of her bills. Since then, she's been sharing her experience with fellow associates to make sure they know about the program. "It's helping me and helping them, too. It's why I love Jet."

FREDRICKA WRIGHT, SOUTH CAROLINA Housewares Department Manager Walmart associate since 2016 Fredricka Wright's day had started out like any other--until the unimaginable happened. Her house caught on fire. A Walmart employee for three years, she had worked a full day in housewares, gone home and then took her children for ice cream. That was when she got the call. "The house was on fire," she says. "I totally lost everything." Fortunately, she got help right away from her HR colleagues who told her about ACNT and encouraged her to apply. Just one week after her application was submitted, she received a grant that helped her buy clothes, food and other essentials. The funds helped get her back on her feet. It provided something else--comfort knowing that people in the workplace cared. "It made me feel good--like there was hope," she says. "I am so grateful."

WHY I GIVE: DONOR SPOTLIGHTS

The generosity of people like you from across the Walmart family are what makes ACNT so special. Associates who step up to contribute to ACNT believe in our community and in being there to help fellow associates. We are grateful for your support.

TRACY HARLOW

I learned about ACNT during orientation on my first day with the company. It's one of the many things that made me realize how much Walmart cares for its people. I've been donating to ACNT ever since. So many ACNT stories have struck a chord with me because they are stories about my co-workers. It hurts to learn about team members across the company who have lost everything in a disaster ? fires, floods, hurricanes and tornados. But then hope is restored thanks to the generosity of fellow associates. Giving to ACNT is one of the best ways we can demonstrate we care about associates who are dealing with incredibly devastating situations. It's family helping family. We're really good at that here. I am proud to be able to help raise funds for ACNT at Walmart. If you work for Walmart, you get the opportunity to help a co-worker in their greatest time of need. Who doesn't love that? Tracy works in Global Communications leading Digital Engagement and has been a Walmart associate since 2011.
