WASHINGTON STATE NURSES ASSOCIATIONADMINISTRATIONposition DescriptionTITLE: Education Director REPORTS TO:DIRECTOR OF NURSING PRACTICE AND HEALTH POLICY POSITION SUMMARYResponsible for coordination of all WSNA provided continuing nursing education (CNE) in accordance with American Nurse Credentialing Center (ANCC) requirements. Collaborates with the Director of Nursing Practice and Health Policy to function as a WSNA liaison to the Council of Nurse Educators for Washington State, Nursing Students of Washington State and other designated organizations. Provides leadership to the Washington State Nurses Foundation including facilitating scholarship application review process and collaborating with its Board to hold various auction and fund-raising events.DUTIESDuties and responsibilities shall include, but not limited to:1.Oversees the WSNA application and renewal process for maintaining continuing education provider status with ANCC.2.Acts as Nurse Planner/Reviewer for WSNA Continuing Education Provider Program (CNEPP) ensuring WSNA’s compliance with ANCC requirements as continuing nursing education events are executed to include WSNA’s biennial convention, union leadership conference and regional educational programs, legislative advocacy camp, on-line educational offerings, and all other CNE programs offered by WSNA.3.Participates in the WSNA Professional Nursing and Health Care Council assisting with the identification, development and evaluation of continuing education programs as well as assisting with the production of designated materials and documents including, but not limited to, position papers, tool kits, palm cards, and educational booklets.4.Collaborates with the WSNA Legislative Council and the Economic & General Welfare Cabinet to identify and provide needed continuing education programs.5.Maintains policies and procedures for the provision of continuing education in accordance with the (ANCC) American Nurses Credentialing Center Accreditation Standards. 6. Provides leadership to the ongoing enhancement of the WSNA Learning Management System 7. Continually strengthens the resources provided through the WSNA Speaker’s Bureau and ensures communication about such resources 8.Develops and disseminates continuing nursing education information in appropriate WSNA publications as well as the WSNA website.9.Maintains liaison relationship with staff development coordinators in various health care agencies including, but not limited to, the Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission and the Washington Center for Nursing.10. Attends Nursing Students of Washington State Board meetings providing assistance for their convention planning, board transition orientation process, and other activities as requested.11. Attends the Washington State Nurses Foundation Board meetings providing support to the nursing scholarship application review process as well as various fund-raising events.12.Promotes WSNA membership and retention by articulating benefits of WSNA membership in relation to provision of quality continuing nursing education.13.Assists with workload of other departments as assigned by the Director of Nursing Practice and Health Policy. 14.Encourages two-way communication with all WSNA staff to ensure consistency with respect to WSNA goals, strategies, and day-to-day operating procedures.ACCOUNTABILITYThe Education Director is accountable to the Director of Nursing Practice & Health Policy.QUALIFICATIONSLicensed as Registered Nurse in State of Washington; BSN and graduate degree required; teaching experience in nursing education; writing, teaching, and public speaking skills; organizational and program management skills; attentiveness to detail; good interpersonal skills; ability to work with others; experience with volunteers helpful.
