Upon approval for testing, an exam notice and directions will be mailed to you.

Once an applicant has been approved for certification under the reciprocal agreement or medical gas endorsement application, a notice will be mailed to the applicant requesting an additional licensing fee.

Application fees are non-refundable. If you have any questions regarding the processing of your application, you may contact this office at the address above or by calling Plumber Certification at 360-902-5207.

Medical Gas Endorsement Applications ? For first time applicants only. ? If you held an endorsement previously and it

has expired past 90 days, you are required to take the Medical Gas Exam. ? An additional licensing fee will be required after the application has been reviewed and approved.

Temporary Permit Applications Temporary permits are issued one time only to active out of state plumbers. A temporary permit is valid for 120 days and is non-renewable. If you fail the exam, the temporary permit is no longer valid.

All Applicant Instructions

Fill out the application completely. Failure to provide correct information in all of the appropriate sections shall be deemed sufficient cause for rejection of the application by the Plumber Certification Section.

If you are unable to take the examination on the date you have scheduled with PSI, you must call PSI at least 2 days prior to the exam date and reschedule. If you do not reschedule or if you fail to show for the exam, you will forfeit the scheduling fee with PSI and must contact PSI to be rescheduled.

Effective January 1, 2017 ? the Journey Level, Residential Specialty, Domestic Pump and Pump and Irrigation examinations will be based on the 2015 Uniform Plumbing Code with the Washington State Amendments. You are urged to study the publications thoroughly.

Journey Level and Residential Specialty Plumber Examination Applicants

The three part examination will consist of:

1. 100 Uniform Plumbing Code questions with Washington State Amendments taken from Chapters 1 ? 10 and 15, 16 and 17.

2. A waste and vent pipe sizing drawing based on sizing and design methods from Chapter 7. 3. A water pipe sizing drawing based on sizing and design methods from Chapter 6.

Provided are Drainage Fixture Unit Values (Table 702.1); Water Supply Fixture Units (Table 610.3); Fixture Unit (Table 610.4); and Flushometer Fixture Units (Table 610.10). No other tables will be provided.

The minimum score required to pass the examination is 70% on each of the three parts.

Pump and Irrigation, and the Domestic Pump Specialty Plumber Examination Applicants

The Pump and Irrigation and the Domestic Pump examination will consist of questions taken from Chapters 2, 3, 6, and 16 of the Uniform Plumbing Code with the Washington State Amendments.

The minimum score required to pass the examination is 70%.

Medical Gas Examination Applicants

The examination is designed to measure your knowledge of the requirements of the currently adopted medical gas code.

The Washington State medical gas examination is an open book exam based on the NFPA 99C Gas and Vacuum Systems.

The minimum score to pass the examination is 70%.

Residential Service Exam Applicants

This exam contains questions taken from UPC with amendments, mechanical code with amendments, RCWs and WACs and other related sources.
