Los Angeles County Probation's Special Enforcement Unit, AB 109 Probation Officers, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department (LASD) and the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) swept through the Antelope Valley this morning on a series of compliance checks involving probationers with a history of drug and weapons violations. "Operation D.I.S.A.R.M" targeted 37 different locations during the seven hour sweep.

Here are the preliminary results from the seven hour operation that started at 6:30am; Approximately 14 arrests were made for probation violations that included illegal narcotics and ammunition. Two fugitives were taken in to custody including one of Probation's "Most Wanted" fugitives. A 16 month old toddler was removed from a home and taken in to DCFS custody.

The Probation Department's D.I.S.A.R.M. Unit stands for "Developing Increased Safety through Arms Reduction Management. The D.I.S.A.R.M. Unit was initiated by Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich in February of 2000 in the wake of the tragic August 1999 shootings at the north Valley Jewish Community Center and the murder of a postal worker by an armed felon on probation from Washington State.
