ELECTION INFORMATION

Candidate Frank Romanowski has decided to withdraw his candidacy for this year. As a result, there will be no election as there are two open council seats and two candidates. Incumbents Flo Czerwinski and CarolAnn Gretz will take their Oath of Office at the Reorganization meeting on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at 6:45 pm, just prior to our regular council meeting at 7:00 pm.

***IMPORTANT***

Due to operational alterations, Waste Management will have to change the town’s pickup day to THURSDAYS effective immediately. The first Thursday pickup will occur on Thursday, July 2, 2020. A new holiday/recycling schedule is posted on the website and is attached.

The good news is we have been able to FINALLY schedule our belated Spring Household Cleanup! The date is Saturday, July 18, 2020. Waste Management will come around during the morning to pick up items not normally picked up on a regular trash day. Please, no yard waste, freezers, refrigerators, A/C units, tires or paint. Have your items out the evening before - please and thank you!

During the school closures in response to COVID-19, students were still able to receive meals and summertime is no different. The Red Clay Nutrition Department strives to provide our students with the freshest and healthiest foods possible during the school year. Now Red Clay Café is offering meals during the summer, at no cost, to children 18 years and younger! Richey School is serving breakfast at 9:15 – 9:45 Monday through Friday. Lunch is available at 11:00 – 11:30 Monday through Friday. Children must consume their meals onsite while an accompanying adult may purchase a meal to go.

Covid-19 is still very much on everyone’s minds while enjoying the ability to begin socializing outside of their households, get a haircut, walk the mall and go to a restaurant. With all of that, the town will continue to be diligent in our responsibility to reduce the spread of the virus. The municipal building will continue to have limited accessibility because of the general layout of the entrance and lack of a secured receiving area. We are investigating ways to modify it as there is no true lobby – it is all just open. Meetings will be socially distanced, meeting attendees must wear face coverings. Court defendants are calling upon their arrival and are brought into the building one at a time. Surfaces are sprayed and sanitized between visitors. We appreciate your understanding and support.

Testing is becoming widely available. There are many drive-through locations set up nearly each day. To find a testing location convenient for you, visit the link below.

Maintenance Notes

Thank you for working on keeping your property clean and weed-free.

The state requires that town street sweeping be documented and done at least quarterly. Route 4 coming in and going out of town are primarily handled by DelDOT. Bob will be on the sweeper early next week, weather-permitting. If you see the sweeper, kindly move your car.

Court 42

We opened court on June 3, 2020 , after having been closed since late March. Honestly, it has not been busy – state courts and other Alderman courts are still closed until the end of the month. We are taking great caution to keep defendants and employees safe during this uncertain time.

Police

If you are going away on vacation and need our police department to do a property check, you may contact the Police Department at 995-0411.
