Camp Nugget Parent Information

Parent Orientation Meeting is 9:00-10:45: June 15 – first day of camp

Important Dates

• June 19 Camp Group Photo (Friday) that we will take and put on the camp website more details will be provided. Your child will receive his or her Camp Nugget T-shirt that day for the photo. When we have special events on Fridays, please have your child wear his or her T-shirt.

• June 26 Japanese Garden visit

• July 3th (Friday) No Camp Campus Closed to Observe Holiday

• July 10th Awards Ceremony last day of Camp, the actual ceremony is in the East Gym 10:30 but you are welcome to spend the whole day. Lunch will be provided & served for all children and family who are all invited. Have your child wear his or her camp T-shirt.

Parking

Parking is free for 5 min pick up/drop off.

If you want to stay, you will need to purchase a parking pass.

Monthly Permit Option:

Camp Nugget parents are now able to purchase a monthly virtual permit ($32 for the month) in advance of the first day of camp. A parking account is required to make the online purchase. If you are interested in purchasing this permit, parking administration will need additional information to assist with creating a login for a guest account.

Each individual will need to forward by June 1st the following details to:

• First and last name

• E-mail address

Camp Nugget will then send your information on June 1st to Guest Parking. Once the account has been set up, an e-mail will be sent from GuestParkingPermits@csulb.edu with a step by step guide on how to enter license plate information and purchase the virtual permit. In order to ensure timely access to an online monthly permit, please submit your information as soon as possible or no later than June 1st.

The monthly parking permit will allow you to park in any general parking stall in a general lot. The closest location is the Pyramid Parking Structure. Please note: the 15 minute drop off/pick up parking is permitted each day on the E2 ramp area only. Lot E2 does not have general parking spaces during camp hours. For more information you can click on the campus website for maps and see KIN building by lot E2.

Daily Permit Option:

• You can also purchase daily parking at a pay station in the Pyramid Parking Structure. You will need to enter your license plate at the pay station for a virtual permit.

• Disabled Parking: Individuals may park in an accessible space or a general parking space if the disabled parking placard is accompanied with paid parking. (A handicap day permit may be purchased at the pay station in Lot E2, select handicap day permit option. Alternatively, individuals who have a disabled parking placard may park in a time limited space (green curb) for free provided that the placard is displayed.

Child Drop Off

Drop-off at 9:00 AM in KIN building #60. There are two doors to this room. There is one on the South and one on the North end of the room. Only the South door, the door closest to the glass doors that lead into the PE building will be open for drop-off. Please escort your child to his or her group and make sure your child’s camp counselor knows your child has arrived before you leave. Door opens at 9:00 AM

Pick-up at 12:00 PM in KIN building #60. Please enter through the same door you dropped your child off, the South door. The children will be at their assigned group area waiting for you. While you are at your child’s area you will watch them tap-out on a board to show you how their behavior/participation was for the day. Your child’s staff member can answer any questions you have regarding the program. After you see your child tap-out please exit through the other door, the North door. There will be an exit sign posted on the door.

You must have paid parking if parked outside of the designated Camp Nugget 15 minute drop off/pick up area or you will cited.

CHILD NEEDS TO BRING:

• Have your child come dressed for activity, shorts, tennis shoes, T-shirt with swim suit under clothes.

• Sunscreen needs to be applied prior to coming to camp as this will save staff time & assure that your child will not burn.

• Please pack a light snack for your child to eat around 10:00 AM. Please indicate on the form provided if your child has a food allergy or is taking any medication.

• During Camp hours we discourage the dispensing of meds. Please share this information with your child’s staff members.

• Please do not bring any valuable items to Camp Nugget. We are not responsible for loss of property. A lost and found will be located in room 60.

SWIMMING

Swimming will be everyday at 11:00 AM

Have your child wear his or her bathing suit under their clothes. Children will only be in a damp suit during the time that it takes to transition from the pool to room 60 for parent pickup. For hygiene and safety reason we can’t fully change children in room 60. Have your child bring a canvas or beach-type bag, towel and pool type shoes so children are not walking barefoot during the transition from room 60 to the pool and on the pool deck. Please mark all clothing and bags clearly with the child's name. During swimming instructions and recreational swim there will be lifeguards on duty certified in CPR. The majority of the staff is CPR trained and certified in swim. If your child might have fecal “accidents” in pool If so they MUST WEAR an APPROVED WATER PROOF SWIM DIAPERS during ALL swim time.

DAILY SCHEDULE (General)

9:00-10:00 Warm up and Fitness, Gross Motor Activities, (KIN Room 60)

10:00-11:00 Snack, Sport Skills, Cooperative Activities (KIN Room 60 nearby playing fields of KIN Building)

11:00-12:00 Swimming lesson and activity (pool behind the KIN Building)

Call (562) 985-7969 (room 62) someone will be at this phone usually from 8:30 to 12:30 (program Phone/Message) unless the staff is outside or email CampNugget@csulb.edu

Calls will be returned Monday - Thursday during the afternoon unless you indicate otherwise. A second number is (562) 985-5522 (Bittner's office message). In case of an emergency and you need to contact your child during camp hours you can phone your child’s staff member, so ask for your child’s counselor’s cell phone number.
