We will then sketch and label the setting with ambitious adjectives. For this lesson, you will need an exercise book, or some paper and a pencil. A ruler would also be helpful to have for labelling the sketch. Fractions Lesson 1:To identify one half of a shapeIn this lesson we will be exploring what equal and unequal mean and finding half of a shape by dividing it into two parts. What is the earth made of?In this lesson, we are going to be learning about the structure of the earth, what the earth is made of and where volcanoes and earthquakes occur and why. Tuesday:The BFG Lesson 2:To investigate suffixes: Past and present tenseIn this lesson, we will explore the rules associated with adding the suffix -ed. 10 spelling words will be explained and set to learn. Fractions Lesson 2:To find half of a quantityIn this lesson we will be finding one half of a quantity by splitting the whole into two equal parts. RE: Buddhism Lesson 1:Who was Siddhartha Gautama?In this lesson we will be learning about Siddhartha Gautama. He is the first individual to have achieved enlightenment through the practice of meditation. He became known as Buddha, which means ‘the enlightened one’. We will learn about his life and his journey to enlightenment. You will need a piece of paper, a pen and your brain. Wednesday:The BFG Lesson 3: To explore simple sentencesIn this lesson, we will recap what a verb is, define a simple sentence as a main clause that makes sense on its own and write our very own simple sentences. For this lesson, you will need an exercise book or some paper and a pencil. Fractions Lesson 3: To find one quarter of a shapeIn this lesson we will be finding one quarter by dividing the whole into four equal parts. Science: Light and Dark, Lesson 1: HYPERLINK "" What is light?In this lesson we are going to learn about light and dark. Thursday:The BFG Lesson 4: To sequence and retell the openingIn this lesson, we will recap word class. We will then watch the opening scene of The BFG again and sequence and retell the main events. Finally, we will generate adjectives to describe how Sophie is feeling during the opening. For this lesson, you will need an exercise book or paper and a pencil. Fractions Lesson 4:To find one quarter of a quantityIn this lesson we will be finding a quarter of a given quantity and applying this to a part-whole model. Music Lesson 1:To understand how to maintain the pulse using the voice and bodyThis lesson will include a fun warm-up and learning a song from Brazil through performing rhythm and pulse simultaneously, with an added challenge at the end! Friday:The BFG Lesson 5:To develop a rich understanding of words associated with night timeIn this lesson, we will introduce new vocabulary, identify word pairs and synonyms and apply the vocabulary in sentences. PSHE: Hazards in the homeChildren will learn what a hazard is and how to spot them in their own homes through a series of images shown. There is no order that you have to read the books so feel free to have a look through the selection and pick your favourite. As you read through each book you will notice a little picture of a bug’s face on some of the pages.
