Pre-Workshop Preparation

Pre-Workshop PreparationThe following videos and websites are to familiarize you with many of the topics we will be covering in the workshop. If you have a good background in electronics, this will be an easy review. However we understand that many of you do not have backgrounds in electronics. This exercise is to familiarize you with the terminology before the workshop starts. The questions are to help you focus and not fall asleep during the videos;-) The videos are short 2-8 minutes and a few have advertizements at the beginning that you can skip over after a few seconds. Allow 3 to 4 hours to view and digest this information. You should have reviewed the MATE ROV Building videos before you begin this.Basic ElectricityBasic Electricity – What is an amp? (5:40) is an ampere? (explain in technical values and in general terms.)What is an electric circuit? How does an electric switch work? How do fuses work?Do electrons flow from positive to negative or is it the reverse? What is “conventional current”?Electronics – Ohm’s Law (4:32) What is the equation for Ohm’s Law?Define voltage? (Include the letter that represents it too)Define current? (Include the letter that represents it too)Define resistance?
