SECTION 072419 - WATER-DRAINAGE EXTERIOR INSULATION AND FINISH SYSTEM (EIFS)

6. INFORMATIONAL SUBMITTALS

Coordinate "Qualification Data" Paragraph below with qualification requirements in Section 014000 "Quality Requirements" and as may be supplemented in "Quality Assurance" Article.

B. Manufacturer Certificates: Signed by EIFS manufacturer, certifying the following:

1. EIFS complies with requirements.

2. Substrates to which EIFS is indicated to be attached are acceptable to EIFS manufacturer.

3. Accessory products installed with EIFS, including [joint sealants,] [flashing,] [water-resistive barrier coatings,] [trim,] whether or not furnished by EIFS manufacturer and whether or not specified in this Section, are acceptable to EIFS manufacturer.

Retain "Product Bulletins" Paragraph below to require submittal of material or product certificates from manufacturers. Delete option if adhesive/base coats and finish coats are factory-mixed formulations and require only added water or are usable straight from container.

D. Product Evaluation Reports: For each EIFS assembly and component, including air/water-resistive barrier coatings, for tests performed by a qualified testing agency.

Retain "Field quality-control reports" Paragraph below if Contractor is responsible for field quality-control testing. Testing may be required in addition to Special Inspections, to suit Project.

7. CLOSEOUT SUBMITTALS

A. Maintenance Data: For EIFS to include in maintenance manuals.

8. QUALITY ASSURANCE

Retain "Installer Qualifications" Paragraph below if requirements in Section 014000 "Quality Requirements" are insufficient. Revise if installers are qualified by a means other than certification. Verify requirements of authorities having jurisdiction.

B. Mockups: Build mockups to verify selections made under Sample submittals, to demonstrate aesthetic effects, and to set quality standards for fabrication and installation.

Indicate portion of wall represented by mockup on Drawings or draw mockup as separate element.

2. Approval of mockups does not constitute approval of deviations from the Contract Documents contained in mockups unless Architect specifically approves such deviations in writing.

Retain subparagraph below if the intention is to make an exception to the default requirement in Section 014000 "Quality Requirements" for demolishing and removing mockups.

9. DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

A. Deliver materials in original, unopened packages with manufacturers' labels intact and clearly identifying products.

B. Store materials in cool, dry place protected from freezing. Store at no less than 40 deg F (4.4 deg C).

1. Stack insulation board flat and off the ground.

Retain first subparagraph below for BASF's "Max Flash."

3. Protect foam-plastic insulation against ignition and direct sunlight at all times.

4. Complete installation and concealment of plastic materials as rapidly as possible in each area of construction.

10. FIELD CONDITIONS

Weather and ambient conditions may affect drying and curing time and appearance.

A.

1. Proceed with installation of adhesives or coatings only when ambient temperatures have remained, or are forecast to remain, above 40 deg F (4.4 deg C) for a minimum of 24 hours before, during, and after application. Refer to manufacturer's written instructions for temperature limitations for specialty finish products. Do not apply EIFS adhesives or coatings during rainfall or to frozen or wet surfaces.

11. WARRANTY

When warranties are required, verify with Owner's counsel that warranties stated in this article are not less than remedies available to Owner under prevailing local laws.
