Week 10: Aug. 10-14

PEACE OUT SUMMER!

To close out FitRec's second annual Summer Kids Camp we featured a different theme for every day of the week. Monday we relaxed, watched Big Hero 6,

ate popcorn, and made Baymax arts & crafts. Tuesday we brought back a water themed day and fun with water balloons and a slip-n-slide all day. Wednesday was

our carnival day ran by our very own carni counselors. Thursday was a karaoke/game room/pizza party hosted at Building U. Finally Friday your campers got to choose the ending of Summer Camps by playing the games

and activities they wanted to.

Camper of the Week

Mini Camper of the Week This week we noticed someone who has a great attitude and participates in every activity with a smile on their face. This camper is very polite, respectful of others, and always says they're sorry if they make a mistake or accidentally hurt someone's feelings.

We all love having this camper make us laugh and smile. Congratulations Johnny Lacny!

Mighty Camper of the Week For a while now we have noticed a camper who has really come out of their shell. This camper is always helping clean up after activities and helping counselors. This camper also sets the example to other campers on how to be a good sport and never stop trying. As one of the nicest campers

we have had this summer, this camper is also the best listener. Congratulations Nicole Rudnik!

Mega Camper of the Week This camper has a personality that is infectious and contagious. This camper is not afraid to laugh

at themselves and doesn't take things the wrong way. Thank you for participating in all of the games, activities and art & crafts and thank you for being a good friend to all of the other campers.

Congratulations Alana Bearden!

Meet our counselors!

Abby Andres: Camp Counselor

Greta Cervantes: Camp Counselor

Hi everyone! My name is Abby Andres, and I am the middle child of 5 kids. This is my first summer working as a camp counselor for the FitRec. I also work as an entrance attendant and a fitness floor attendant. I was also a student-athlete. I played basketball, volleyball, and soccer. My major is physical therapy. My favorite part of camp was getting to know everyone and playing all the activities with them. This has been an amazing year and we all made some great memories together. I look forward to seeing many of the kids back next year. Good luck to you guys and have an awesome school year!

Hi my name is Greta Cervantes. I recently graduated from UIC with a Bachelor of Arts in the Teaching of English. Although in the near future I plan on working in secondary education, I have a plethora of experience working in the elementary ed field as an after school teacher. My favorite color is blue and my hobbies include playing electric guitar, reading, creative writing, and playing basketball. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with our campers at Fit Rec and wish them all the best in their upcoming school year.

Dear Campers,

Good luck in school this year we hope this experience will help you become leaders and good friends with everyone you meet. Until next summer the halls of FitRec will miss being filled with laughter, excitement, and joy that you brought us. The counselors and FitRec staff will miss you and your families greatly. If there were any of you that did not receive a camp T-shirt, please see camp director Angela Caringella.

Thank you for another amazing experience and a memorable summer!
