Mixed media painting

`Pick life's roses today' is the meaning of the Spanish text in this painting. Just follow the steps of this easy DIY project to make the painting yourself. The large pink roses and brightly coloured yellow and blue background produce a work of art to cheer up any room. Brighten up your own living room or bedroom with this mixed media painting!

step 1

Take a piece of white cardstock and cut it to 18x24 cm.

Add texture to your background by sticking on various bits of paper using gel medium. Then brush the card with a thin layer of Gesso.

Apply distress ink to your craft mat and activate it with a water spray. Draw the top of the cardstock through the ink to add a watercolor effect. Repeat this technique for the bottom of the cardstock. Then add some splashes of paint using a brush and the activated distress ink.

Stamp the flowers at the bottom of the cardstock using StaZon and color them in with the crayons. Stamp the texts onto white cardstock, cut them out, and stick them spread out onto the cardstock background.

Create semi-circles with a distress crayon and use another coloured crayon to add color accents. Use a cap with the edge covered in black paint to create a black outline for the circles.

Mix some crayon with water and use a brush to create splashes in the background.
