This is Tripp Crayton, Principal at Jordan-Matthews High School, with your bi-weekly announcement. Report cards were distributed on Wednesday, December 4th, and interim reports will be distributed by December 16th.Seniors who are identified as Career and Technical Education concentrators participated this past week in the ACT Workkeys assessment.? This assessment measures foundational skills required for success in the workplace. Individuals who successfully completed the three parts of the WorkKeys assessments earn the WorkKeys National Career Readiness Certificate which is a valuable credential for students when they enter the world of work, as well as have the opportunity to be recognized at graduation.The district is seeking stakeholder input on two draft calendars for the 2020-2021 school year. You can go directly to the district website to find out more information as well as the survey to share your feedback by January 6, 2020.Does your student play sports at JM?? If so, please come to the next athletic boosters meeting on Jan 6 at 6pm in trailer 2.? We would love for more parents to help support the athletic programs at JM.?After Winter Break, select students with ten or more absences will receive a letter related to the possibility of being at risk for not receiving credit for a class where a student has ten or more unexcused absences. This letter is a formal notice that the student may be issued a failing grade due to excessive cumulative absences. This failing grade is in accordance with the Chatham County Schools’ attendance policy. Students who receive a Failure due to Attendance or FDA but pass a class(es) will be put on a contract second semester in order to have the opportunity to recover the passing grade(s), as long as the guidelines stipulated in the contract have been met. It is important that the student continues to attend class and complete assignments in order to recover lost credit. Please be on the lookout for this important information if your son/daughter has excessive absences.As noted on the school calendar, Friday, December 20th is an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. School will be closed for Winter Break Monday, December 23rd-Friday, January 3, 2020. Everyone will return on Monday, January 6th, with exams starting the following week. Our Winter exam schedule can now be found on our school website, with exams scheduled January 13th-January 17th. Please make note of the dates of individual student exams, as all students need to take their scheduled exam on the date indicated on the schedule.
