COMMENTATOR______________________

INTRODUCTION: (COMMENTATOR):

Good morning,

Whatever begins as an unresolved dispute between two persons

becomes matter for the community of the Church.

When disputes rupture relationships, it is the Church that is weakened;

when relationships are healed, it is the Church that is built up.

When reconciliation takes place and where two or three gather in his name, Jesus is “in the midst of them.”

And so, gathered as one church, let us praise God in song as we begin our celebration.

PRAYERS OF THE FAITHFUL: (COMMENTATOR)

Let us pray to the God of love in the name of Jesus who has promised to be present where two or three are gathered in his name, so that we, the church, the people of God, might practice in our own life the commandment of love that we preach to others.

For whom and for what do we want to pray today? Please unmute your mike to share your prayer with the community. Our response is Lord Hear Our Prayer.

After all prayers are complete:

Good and gracious God,

in your name we gather in prayer.

Your presence in our midst

makes our gathering a holy assembly.

May we take your holy presence from this place

into our homes, schools, and workplaces.

We offer these prayers in the name of Christ Jesus. Amen.

FIRST READING: Ezekiel 33:7-9

A reading from the Book of the prophet Ezekiel.

Thus says our God:

"You, O mortal, I have appointed sentinel

for the house of Israel;

when you hear me say anything, you shall warn them for me.

If I tell the wicked,

“O wicked ones, you shall surely die,'

and you do not speak out to dissuade the wicked from their ways,

the wicked shall die for their guilt,

but I will hold you responsible for their death.

"But if you warn the wicked,

trying to turn them from their ways,

and they refuse to turn from their ways,

the wicked shall die for their guilt,

but you shall save yourself."

The Word of God. R/. Thanks be to God.

SECOND READING: Romans 13:8-10

A reading from the letter of St. Paul to the Romans.

Sisters and brothers,

Owe nothing to anyone, except to love one another;

for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law.

The commandments, "You shall not commit adultery;

You shall not kill;

You shall not steal;

You shall not covet";

and whatever other commandment there may be,

are summed up in this saying, namely,

"You shall love your neighbor as yourself."

Love does no evil to a neighbor;

hence, love is the fulfillment of the law.

The Word of God. R/. Thanks be to God.

SILENCE A silence of at least ten seconds should elapse before the Gospel

acclamation begins.

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION: (To be sung)

GOSPEL Matthew 18:15-20

A reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew.

Jesus said to his disciples.

"If your brother or sister sins against you,

go and tell them their fault between you and them alone.

If they listen to you, you have won them over.

But if they do not listen,

take one or two others along with you,

so that every fact may be established

on the testimony of two or three witnesses.

If they refuse to listen to them, tell the church.

If they refuse to listen even to the church,

then treat them as you would a Gentile and a tax collector.

"Amen, I say to you,

whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven,

and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Again, Amen, I say to you,

if two of you agree on earth

about anything for which they are to pray,

it shall be granted to them by my Abba in heaven.

For where two or three are gathered together in my name,

there I am in the midst of them."

The Gospel of Our Savior Jesus Christ.

R/. Praise to you, O Jesus Christ.
