Woke Week 1 ch.com

[Pages:2]Are you woke? We believe that there is an enemy that is prowling like a lion. This enemy is harder to see and is waiting to catch you off-guard. So in the midst of all the chaos going on, are you woke to the real enemy?

Week One: Woke to Your Enemy

Text: 1 Peter 5:8-11

Sermon Summary: Teaching points:

? We need to be woke to the real enemy. ? We need to be woke to the real battle.

Discussion Questions: These three larger questions will drive our discussion:

1. What did the Holy Spirit say to you through Sunday's sermon? 2. What are you going to do about it? 3. How can others help and pray for you so you can do what God told you?

What did the Holy Spirit say to you through the sermon? ? What is the danger of not being aware that Satan is alive, well, and at work in the world? ? How might it change the way you think about what could be holding us back from being fully devoted and fully obedient to Jesus?

What are you going to do about it? ? What are some of the best lies that Satan has used against you? (John 8:44) ? What are some lies that we tend to believe based on what a "normal" life is supposed to be that keep us from being fully committed to Jesus? ? The promise of protection is that Satan will stop his attack if we resist him by standing strong in our faith. ? Share a time when you experienced an attack and your faith made Satan flee. (James 4:7)

How can others in this group help you or pray for you?

? As you think about all the problems facing our country and the world, why is it so important for Christians to be "woke" to the plans and schemes of Satan?

? How does this help us rise above our human solutions and engage in spiritual transformation? (Ephesians 6:10-13)

MEMORY VERSE

"Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kind of

sufferings."

1 Peter 5:8-9
