General Objective

The purpose of this component is to provide an opportunity to develop basic, intermediate, and/or advanced skills with email and information management applications. Upon successful completion of this component, participants will be able to use an email/information management program such as Microsoft Outlook.

Specific Objectives

Upon completion of this component, participants will:

1. Become familiar with the different features of an email application.

2. Create, send, and receive an email.

3. Create a signature that conforms to district guidelines.

4. Send and receive attachments through email.

5. Use a folder list to manage emails.

6. Check email via the web through webmail.

7. Archive email according to district guidelines.

8. Use the calendar to keep track of appointments.

9. Use an electronic business card list to manage personal and business contacts.

10. Where available, use the task feature to create and manage a “to do” list.

Descriptions of Activities

Instructional delivery will consist of lectures, discussions, online interactive tutorial, and/or hands-on experiences. Participants will complete hands-on activities designed to meet the objectives of this component. Appropriate materials will be available for the participants to use as resources and study guides. A qualified consultant will develop the course outline based on the specific objectives stated above. This component is designed specifically to introduce participants to, develop an understanding of, and gain a facility with email/planning applications.

Evaluation of Participants

Evaluation of the specific objectives will be determined by the activity leader or designee through analysis of student performance data affected by training activities, portfolios maintained by the training participant, documented observation by administrators, rubrics developed for special area curriculum, teacher-provided test results/grade books, or curriculum alignment data.

Evaluation of Activity

An online evaluation for this activity will be conducted through the Santa Rosa Professional Growth System.
