Please choose one of the projects below as your final assessment for Marcus Zusak’s novel, The Book Thief. This project should reflect not only your understanding of the text, but also your ability to connect the text to the real world. Read the instructions carefully. The rubric located at the bottom will apply to all project choices. Note: You will have minimal class days to work on this assignment. PROJECT DUE: Wednesday, January 20, 2016PROJECT Options—A Dangerous Beauty. Create a poster, PowerPoint presentation, Photostory, or similar that demonstrates your ability to argue whether or not you think humans in The Book Thief and in the real world are more “beautiful” or more “brutal.” Your poster should contain the following:Your thesis (topic + opinion on the topic). Three examples from The Book Thief and two examples from the real world supporting your opinion. One to two paragraphs of explanation for each example. This should explain why these examples from the book and the real world show that humans are more beautiful or brutal. At least five quality images, either hand-drawn, cut from a magazine, or found electronically. These images should enhance your argument. Mapping Molching. Create an in-depth map of the landscape in this novel. Your map will be focused on Molching, but you must include the surrounding areas. This will require some research for you find out where these places are actually located. Olching is where it is believed the town is based. Your map must include the following:From the novel: Munich, Dachau, Molching, Himmel Street, Mayor’s House, Hubermann’s house, Rudy’s house, Bomb Shelter, Hubermann’s basement, Apple farm, Frau Diller’s Candy shop, Munich Street, Stuttgart, Vienna(Austria), Poland, Cologne, and Stalingrad.Find three other major real life places that you think would be important to this map. Please make sure these are places that Death would have probably visited.One to two paragraphs of explanation for the other places you chose and how they tied to the book. Clearly labeled places and images for all places mentioned above.Figuratively Speaking: Create a booklet, PowerPoint, Photostory, or similar that outlines your top ten favorite lines from the book where we see figurative language (*Note: no more than two imagery examples please). This will be a picture book like the one Max created Liesel.
