Don't Miss NEBS SummerFest

The New England Barbecue Society is pleased to invite all of its members and their guests to the 2014 NEBS SummerFest, which will be held Saturday and Sunday, August 2 & 3, at Camp Collier in Gardner, Massachusetts. Members and their guests may come and spend the day, or camp for the entire weekend.

As opposed to a barbecue contest, where the cooks are often too busy to meet with the public and interact with other teams, SummerFest is a great opportunity for all NEBS members to get together for a weekend of camping, cooking, socializing, and sharing great food with one another.

Located on beautiful Lake Wampanoag, Camp Collier is a former Boy Scout camp, complete with a large dining hall and restroom facilities. There are plenty of camping sites among the 600 acres of fields, forests, trails, and shore front.

The crystal-clear lake and sandy beach are perfect for swimming, fishing, and boating. Fishing is allowed with a valid Mass. fishing license. Non-motorized watercraft are allowed for a $5 boat-launching fee.

Members who are familiar with competition cooking may bring their pits, canopies, etc., and set up as they would for a contest, if they so desire. Others may wish to travel lighter and simply bring their camping gear. There is plenty of room for camping, whether you want to stay with a large group, or venture off to a more secluded site.

RVs are allowed, but there is no dumping station and very limited electricity. Those who don't like to camp may come and make a day of it or stay at local hotels within 5 miles or so of the camp.

So whether you're an experienced competition cook, a judge, a backyard barbecuer, or anything in

between, come on out and enjoy this opportunity to meet and mingle

with other NEBS members, and share some great food and great times!
