Description

Provides transitional and permanent housing for families with children (at least one minor) facing homelessness, including counseling, food and other supportive services to enable clients to regain self-sufficiency.

Provides transitional housing to unaccompanied women. Services to clients include food, clothing, case management and individual and group counseling.

Provides a transitional shelter and supportive services for adults with children currently without housing. Program includes case management, counseling, childcare, clothing, budgeting skills, transportation assistance, life skills classes, homework assistance programs, activities for children and referrals to Medi-Cal, cash aid, CalFresh and other government assistance. Provides transitional shelter for women who need support related to homelessness, domestic violence, or substance abuse. Educational and supportive services are also offered to children staying in the shelter.

Administers Section 8 (Housing Choice Voucher) rental subsidies and rehabilitates privately owned property.

Offers an emergency safety house for women with or without children who are experiencing domestic violence. Program includes daily meals, children's trauma informed care, legal advocacy, counseling, case management, parenting education and domestic violence education and safety planning. Provides 30-45 days of emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence and their children. Services include counseling programs on parenting, self esteem issues, domestic violence education and support, battered women's legal projects and elder abuse education and prevention. Provides a group for women who have experienced domestic abuse. This is not a PEP(Personal Empowerment Program).

CalWORKs (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) provides cash aid (through a re-chargeable electronic card (Electronic Benefits Transfer or "EBT" card) that is used like an ATM card) and support services to families. Emergency cash assistance or motel vouchers is available for families with minor children who are without housing on a once-in-a lifetime basis.

Medi-Cal provides basic medical costs coverage for low income individuals and families, seniors, people with disabilities, foster youth, pregnant women and people with specific diseases such as tuberculosis,breast cancer or HIV/AIDS.

Services may include access to nutritious foods to supplement diets, information on healthy eating and referrals to health care Offers a pre-set package of non-perishable groceries to families with children. Perishable items may be available, based on availability of donations. When available, baby food and baby supplies may also be provided to established food pantry clients. Provides information and referral services to older adults, including food assistance.
