Project: Seneca Quote System for the Web (SenQuote)

Role: Consultant

Employment: 2/2008 to 6/2008

Project highlights: In about 100 hours, took the complicated rules around various states' sales and use taxes and Seneca's intricate parts catalog, and created an easily managed web-based system for Seneca's engineers and accountants to create accurate quotes for customers. The system features the ability to copy existing quotes and to version quotes. Each quote is then produced through Excel. (See Phyllis Jones reference)

Project: Wells Fargo Home Mortgage

Role: Strategy Consultant (Assistant Vice-President)

Employment: 3/2007 to 8/2008

Project highlights: Led strategic think tank into the development of new initiatives. Concepts ranged from the development of a financial scenario generator to new mortgage products (such as a 529-like account for homeownership) to innovative marketing activities. Wrote white papers, facilitated brainstorming meetings, and rapidly prototyped these concepts to put them in front of senior management. Created calendaring web site for remote users to replace their laptops. Site featured user's self-management of replacement scheduling. (See Jeff Kaiserman reference)

Project: Wells Fargo Home Mortgage

Role: Project Manager

Employment: 9/2006 to 3/2007

Project highlights: Continued work on project management web site (OSOT - see below) and received a Wells Fargo Service Excellence award for it. Managed the Pre-Approval/PriorityBuyer project. Wrote a business white paper and business model/business case for P2P Home Lending to broaden Wells Fargo's customer base and extend the company's reach to international home lending.

Role: SQL Server DBA, Intranet developer, analyst

Employment: 9/2003 to 9/2005

Project highlights: Initially brought on for a 3 week assignment, was extended for two years. Most of my effort was developing/architecting an Intranet web site comprised of over 2,000 pages and over 5,000 reports, but also included complex Microsoft Office automation, BusinessObjects automation, and training several people to help them grow their IT skill set. Created a system that would allow personalized, multi-tiered security down to each web page/report itself with role-based access to functions within each page. Development included survey site, email triggers, audit system, and project management site called One Source of Truth (OSOT). (See Kay Kiefer reference)

Project highlights: Founded software company that attracted over $300,000 investment capital. Authored Newsletter Ease (), email newsletter software used by hundreds of customers in over 20 countries. Participated in all management and marketing decisions and served on board of directors. Project highlights: Developed and released several software programs through online store and managed all aspects of the e-commerce business. Provided tech support to domestic and international customers. Wrote automation software to assist with the sales process and email replies. Several of these programs were mentioned prominently in online publications, such as Lockergnome and Tucows.

Functions: Consolidated 4 Access databases into an Access/SQL Server solution

Project highlights: Rapidly learned the logic involved in oversight of animal feeding operations in the state of Iowa. Created database design around this logic and converted existing databases into a more streamlined system. Trained employees who helped with the project in various aspects of the process.

Project highlights: Created custom software to replace complex Excel spreadsheets used to generate quotes. System features intelligent calculation of sales and use tax, including local option and excise taxes, for several states. Stores quote in database and automates population of Excel templates.

Wrote querying objects through class modules in VB to then export the data into Excel. These reports allow the owners/accountants a view into the big picture of their business.

Project highlights: Was primary architect of work orders application that included scaleable and customizable interface, emphasizing code re-use and object-oriented methodology. Responsible for the overall design and implementation. Hired and trained staff personally. The application enabled the end-user to completely change screens as needed for field-level business rules. This was accomplished through a custom-built data dictionary that managed the presentation of the data. Heavy usage of OLE automation with Excel and Word. Was involved in marketing and sales presentations.

Employment: 6/92 to 12/95

• Developed Patient Drug Interaction package for pharmaceutical association. Package emphasized OLE automation of complex Word documents. Data entry staff input information of several thousand patients’ prescriptions and cross-checked against other prescriptions and providers to produce hybrid letters alerting the provider. Responses from letters were then input into the system and queried demographically for insurance companies (Principal, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, MediCare).

• Designed and built software to manage association memberships dues, continuing education credits, and event scheduling.

• Quote system to integrate into Excel. Featured custom cell mapping of fields to create specialized and client-specific quotes.

• Wrote an Accounts Receivable/Aging program for small radio station.

• Authored a bridging program into Great Plains software to give management expanded reports capabilities and querying for what-if scenarios.

• Built modem-based query program, which allowed ASCII input to query a large MS Access database by dialing through any computer. As this was developed prior to the popularity of the Internet, the program served as a model for dynamic web-based applications.

• Trained corporate users in generic Windows/Microsoft Office skills (actual on-site classroom).
